Senior Center Assistant Manager - Venice
The Senior Center Assistant Manager provides program and operational support with the daily operations of the Senior Center at our Venice campus. This position takes an active role in scheduling and training volunteers, setting up activity space for daily events, and fostering relationships with current and new members. This position works with the Senior Center Manager to ensure the Senior Center operations run smoothly. The Assistant Manager position acts as a back-up for the Senior Center Manager when they are not available.
The mission of the Senior Friendship Centers is to build vibrant communities by advancing wellness, connection, and enrichment throughout the journey of aging. Older adults throughout four counties in Southwest Florida rely on Senior Friendship Centers for help with nutrition, adult day services, social engagement, education, help in times of crisis, and so much more.
The Senior Center Manager is a full-time position expected to work 30 hours per week, with benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, a 403b with an employer match, generous PTO, paid holidays and more!
Essential Functions:
Operational-
- Provide back up in the daily oversight of the Senior Center when the Manager is out of the office, including opening and closing routine.
- Assist with the notification and processing of membership renewals.
- Create, distribute and post flyers for communication with members when needed.
- Communicate with community partners as directed by the Senior Program Manager.
- Assist in planning and overseeing special events on weekends or evenings related to Center activities, as needed.
- Must be present and visible in the center, greeting everyone, moving around from various activities, checking in on volunteers, instructors, and members throughout the day.
- Make announcements with the microphone as directed by the Senior Program Manager, as needed.
- Prepare rooms for use and straighten them up when programs conclude.
- Responsible for scheduling classes, collecting membership fees, using the credit card machine, and preparing class rosters if necessary.
- Oversee volunteers and compliance of timesheets. Train new volunteers and delegate job duties to each volunteer based on their skills.
- Assist with fundraising and outreach activities to promote the organization’s mission and assist with the processing of donations and fees following fiscal department policy.
- Responsible for Bistro inventory.
- Report any incident of abuse or neglect as mandated by the state guidelines.
Organizational-
- Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
- Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization’s safety and incident policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Acting as a back-up for the Senior Program Manager’s Senior Center duties when they are not available.
