Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, Inc. (HabiJax) is currently seeking a part-time ReStore Cashier. HabiJax is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit housing organization seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. The HabiJax ReStores are home improvement retail outlets where new and refurbished building materials, cabinets, appliances, furniture, lighting and accessories are sold to the public at reduced prices! At the HabiJax ReStores, our staff and volunteers happily accept donations of new and gently used items. We sell those items to treasure hunters and bargain shoppers alike to raise money for our mission of eliminating substandard housing.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the management and appropriate handling of the cash register, assisting and greeting ReStore customers, and providing administrative support as directed. May perform a variety of tasks including cleaning, pricing and stocking merchandise, research, pricing data, information database updates and store performance reporting. Assists ReStore customers, volunteers or homebuyers in any way needed to ensure a positive experience. This position requires excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds, sound money management skills, and a commitment to HabiJax’s mission, vision and values.

Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position with shifts assigned during our store open hours of 9am to 6pm Monday thru Saturday.
Pay Rate:
The starting pay rate for this position is $13.00 per hour.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and provide them with information regarding products and services.
- Provide outstanding telephone assistance and customer service.
- Operate cash register with accuracy and do not leave cash register unattended.
- Maintain highest level of accuracy in cash handling during transactions.
- Verify cash in till before and after shift to assist to ensure accuracy.
- Complete sold tickets for sales.
- Maintain awareness of pricing of merchandise and direct inquiries correctly.
- Properly bag or package sold merchandise.
- Keep front of store and cashier area clean and tidy.
- Price, organize and display merchandise as directed.
- Call for assistance to help customers out the door with purchases (if needed).
- Practice good use of store policies and volunteer guidelines including safety, security and anti-theft procedures.
- Answer basic questions about Habitat for Humanity and HabiJax.
- Provide tax-receipt form to donors as needed.
- Perform clerical duties (i.e. typing, copying, printing, etc.)
- Log manual data into record books.
- Perform additional duties as required and directed.

Education, Experience, and Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a cashier or customer service role.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
- Technology proficiency to include register and basic computer use.
- Able to successfully pass a background and drug screening. Must be bondable.
