For more than 30 years, SCCS has provided care, counseling, coaching, and essential mental health services for children, teen, young adults, and their families. As specialists in the field of mental health, SCCS employees possess diverse professional skills equipping us as a team to treat each client’s unique needs.
As an in-home-based, Therapeutic Behavior Specialist (IHBS/TBS), you will be responsible for providing individualized, strength-based behavior modification services to individuals residing at a Short-Term Residential Treatment Program (STRTP). The children/youth receiving these services have a serious emotional disturbance, are experiencing stressful transitions or life crises, and need additional short-term, specific support services to achieve outcomes specified in their client treatment plans.
As an IHBS/ TBS staff person, you will work with the child/youth, building skills necessary for successful functioning in the home and community so the child/youth may be able to return to a lower level of care, such as a foster home or back home.
Shifts available are:
IHBS FT Sunday through Thursday 11:30am-8:00pm
IHBS FT Tuesday through Saturday 1:30pm-10:00pm
IHBS PT Weekends only 9:30am-6:00pm or 11:30-8:00pm
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Actively supports staff and clients providing a “Team Approach” through open and continuous communication.
2. Collaborates with clinical staff and all other members of the mental health team on a regular basis
(weekly) to coordinate care.
3. A physical presence, on-site at the STRTP, is maintained with clients at all times, except when completing paperwork.
4. Manage and maintain client caseload according to timelines and program guidelines. Meet productivity standards of 100 Direct Service Hours per month.
5. Provide one on one training on behavioral interventions that include, but are not limited to, immediate behavioral reinforcements, time-out structuring, inappropriate response prevention, positive reinforcement, needs & service plans, etc.
6. Supervise and assist in developing the client’s ability to sustain self-directed appropriate behavior, internalize a sense of social responsibility, and/or enable participation proactively in community activities.
7. Work collaboratively with parents/caregivers to address clients’ problematic behaviors.
8. Unitize strength-based approach.
9. Assist program with collection of outcomes tools.
10. Demonstrate professional boundaries.
11. Maintain required paperwork and documentation.
12. Occasionally represent the program at community functions, i.e., resource fairs, community partner Consortiums.
13. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
