Job Purpose - Water is one of the biggest concerns in Colorado, and Resource Central’s Slow the Flow program is celebrating twenty years of helping people save water! Slow the Flow provides sprinkler system checkups and simple recommendations to reduce the amount of water used on lawns at over 2,000 homes every year. The Senior Water Conservation Associate will be a key part of the Slow the Flow program by doing fieldwork, scheduling appointments, and helping other staff. This job has a combination of work in the field, in the office, and at home. The position is expected to last through September, 2024. Compensation includes $20.00/hr, mileage reimbursement, cell phone stipend, paid training, and paid sick leave. Gain valuable experience in water conservation while making a difference!
Principal Responsibilities - The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Become an expert on sprinkler system operation, rain sensor and smart control clock installations, and Resource Central’s Slow the Flow processes and procedures; we provide training.
- Conduct sprinkler system checkups at homes, businesses, and other properties to help people conserve water.
- Install smart controllers and rain sensors on sprinkler systems and educate homeowners on their use.
- Schedule appointments and respond to customer questions; provide exceptional customer service in person and by phone and email.
- Use leadership skills to help train and support 18+ field staff on Slow the Flow water conservation services.
- Cultivate a strong sense of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Qualifications
- Must be passionate about helping people conserve water.
- Must be at least 18 years of age upon start date; High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, daily access to a reliable automobile, and a smartphone required.
- Must pass a background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.
- Frequent driving to Denver, Boulder, Longmont, and surrounding areas required.Occasional trips to Fort Collins, Fountain, or other cities that include a longer commute or overnight stay required; we provide travel pay and accommodations.
- Ability to work remotely with reliable access to the internet required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) or Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, etc.) required.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds, walk continuously throughout the workday, kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly required.
- Ability to safely work outdoors in all kinds of weather including high temperatures and rain required.
- Outstanding customer service skills and ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times required.
- Experience using a drill and basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, level, etc.) preferred.
- Customer service, training, or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, sprinklers, or sustainability preferred.
