We are currently seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for Fulltime Weekend/Days positions in several New Orleans Surrounding area locations:
Hours:
· Typical day shifts are 7am-3pm
· Typical evening shifts are 3pm-11pm
· Driver license REQUIRED for all day and evening positions
· Schedules generally include working weekends, with two (2) consecutive days off will be during the week.
Starting Pay:
$10 to $12
Are you a Quality DSP candidate?
If so, you are patient, compassionate, creative, and team-oriented. You will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community participation, advocacy, and building meaningful relationships. You must be able and willing to teach, provide counseling, and problem solve, while fostering a nurturing, personalized home environment.
Additional Responsibilities:
· The oversight of all safety and health considerations
· Promoting skill development, interests, and hobbies
· Assisting with Adult Daily Living skills (ADLs)
· Other personalized responsibilities including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, etc.
· Assists the individual in managing every day aspects of life by utilizing habilitative strategies and providing supports in a manner that builds on individual strengths and capabilities and maximizes choices.
· High school education/GED or equivalent required; additional education preferred
· Professionalism; integrity; excellent communication skills. Patience is a MUST!
· Valid Driver's License REQUIRED for most day and evening staff.
· Experience supporting People with Intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred.
· Willingness to support people's preferences for community, activities, work, leisure activities, the exercise of their rights etc. in various settings.
· Ability to stay alert and awake at all times; use a computer for data entry; schedule flexibility.
