Social Care Manager 1 - €52,441 - €61,241
Clinical Nurse Manager 1 - €52712 - €62,077

The Purpose
The person/s appointed shall ensure that the vision is delivered through our core values of Person-Centered Service. Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, national Legislation including Health Act 2007 and H.I.Q.A. regulations. Role includes taking on the duties of Person in Charge for designated centres.
The normal working hours will be 37.5/39 hours per week (depending on qualification) however, flexible hours, including participating in a duty roster is involved.
The person/s appointed shall, in addition to partaking in the roster, be responsible for the day-to-day management of the designated centre/centres, reflecting the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity, operating within agreed policies and procedures and ensuring that the individual needs of person supported are being met by all workers therein.
As a leader of the team, the post holder will ensure that the interests of each person supported are paramount in discussions. Emphasis will be on forming a team approach involving the person supported, families, key workers, advocates and staff, including day services, on all relevant issues. Working towards community integration and ensuring a quality service is provided to all who use the service are essential parts of the role.
Reporting to Regional Manager or alternative authorised person as the Employing Authority may designate
Professional Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates must -
- Possess a level 8 or higher health related 3rd level qualification on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework in nursing/social care or health science
Or
- Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.
- For CNM1 grade have at least 3 years post registration fulltime experience (or an aggregate of 3 years post registration full time experience) of which 1-year post registration full time experience (or an aggregate of 1 year’s post registration full time experience) must be in the speciality or related area.
- Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
And
- Candidates must demonstrate evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- If a qualified nurse you must maintain live annual registration in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) - An Bórd Altranais
- Have a suitable standard of professional attainments
- Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office)
- Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems.
- Possess or working towards a relevant management qualification
- Post graduate training in Positive Behaviour Support is desirable
- Possess a full clean Driver’s licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads is essential for these roles
Experience:
Candidates Must -
- Must have a minimum 5 years’ experience of working in residential services supporting adults with intellectual disability, autism and challenging behaviour.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years’ management or supervisory experience
- Experience of leading and managing a team is desirable
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of flexibility.
- Must have experience of using alternative communication methods.
- Applicants must be flexible to meet the requirements of the service
- Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific and clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is desirable
- Must have experience of using a person-centred planning system
Hours of Work:
The standard working week will apply. Flexible hours, including participating in a duty roster is involved.
Starting and finishing times will be as notified to the appointee from time to time by the line manager. It is essential that the Clinical Nurse Manager/ Social Care Manager ensures that there is constant and appropriate cover available within the residential services at all times.
The appointee may be required to work additional hours arising from the duties of the appointment and compensation for these hours by way of time off in lieu, to be taken in line with the policy.
The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants.
* Public Servants not affected by this legislation:
Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age.
Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70.
