Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio, Inc. (RMHC NEO) is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who possesses passion, compassion, and dedication as a part-time Family Meal Program Assistants to support the efforts of the Cleveland Ronald McDonald House located at 10415 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH.
This role is an hourly, part-time position working Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Family Meal Program Assistant is responsible for the preparation of family meals and supervision of groups volunteering with the meal preparation program. The Family Meal Program Assistant works in collaboration with RMHC NEO staff and volunteers to provide excellent service to guests and visitors and advance the mission of RMHC NEO.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts all activities in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
- Cleans and organizes the kitchen and food supplies prior to a group’s arrival or meal preparation.
- Directs/assists groups with meal preparation. Greets and orients these groups, directing them in their tasks. In the absence of a group, prepares the family meal.
- Ensures proper food safety procedures are followed.
- Cleans kitchen and serving areas after meals and stores leftover food using proper food guidelines. Serves food to families and/or packages food where necessary.
- Ensures that photos are taken of all groups, downloaded, labeled and shared with Marketing Department.
- Assists with intake and storage of food and other wish list donations.
- Provides tours to all groups and donors.
- Creates and maintains a comfortable environment that encourages family cooperation and a home-like atmosphere.
- Provides support to the Guest Services Team as needed.
- Assists with external events (such as tabling events, activity/volunteer fairs, corporate events, etc.) and RMHC NEO activities/events as requested.
- Attends trainings and meetings as requested.
- Establishes priorities for managing own work while staying on a focused, efficient path for achieving results.
- Acts as organizational ambassador and presents a positive image of RMHC NEO.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred. One or more years of experience in a position working closely with groups or teams strongly preferred. Restaurant or cooking experience preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- ServSafe certification preferable.
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office products and database software.
- Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to provide instructions to others.
- Ability to respect and show hospitality to guests from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Frequent standing and walking while preparing meals, working with groups, and giving tours.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to prepare meals, reach above, and handle kitchen supplies and utensils.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, and squatting.
- Occasional sitting, viewing computer monitors, and utilizing a computer keyboard.
- Frequently required to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
This position is located at 10415 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106, where free on-site parking is provided.
