At CAPSA, we are dedicated to providing safe and confidential services to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual abuse, and rape in Cache County and the Bear Lake area.
As an After-Hours Advocate, you will play an integral role in fulfilling our mission to provide shelter, advocacy, and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. This vital role is often tasked with being the first point of contact for survivors and provides the opportunity to directly make a difference in individual lives.
Your responsibilities will include answering the crisis line and entering all calls into our tracking database system, preparing rooms for new shelter clients with bedding, towels, hygiene necessities, and Heart Knit Kits, helping new shelter clients with the check in process, and conducting the exit process according to established procedures.
You will also interact with residents as needed, helping to calm and reassure them, acting as a "sounding board," and mediating problem situations. You will collect and return keys as clients leave and return to shelter and record all substantial interactions with residents in the current client database tracking system.
In addition, you will attend monthly after-hours meetings and other training, provide feedback and suggestions about practices that create a comfortable environment for survivors.
These are after-hours shifts. Current openings are:
- 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month night starting at 6pm through 6am.
- 2nd Saturday of the month night starting at 6pm through 6am
- 2nd Sunday of the month night starting at 6pm through 6am
- 4th Sunday of the month day starting at 6am through 6pm
As an organization CAPSA operates with a learner's mindset, and focuses on providing compassionate, trauma-informed services. In this position you will participate in our 40-hour Advocacy training and also receive ongoing training. This will help you to grow individually and benefit our community.
Ultimately, your work as an After-Hours Advocate will help us to achieve our vision of a world with empowered survivors, safe homes, and children living without fear. We are working every day toward our ultimate goal of ending domestic violence in our community, and we hope that you will join us in this important mission.
