We are looking for a Deputy Manager with an understanding of and commitment to the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Active Support. This role will be based in one of our residential services in Neath (Old Road, Pale Road and Rhyd Hir).
Reporting to the Registered Manager and linking directly with our PBS Team, you will mentor and coach the staff in the service in PBS and Active Support, with a focus on people management to develop staff skills in this area and build on the quality of life for the people living at the service. Working closely with NAS Management and External Stakeholders, you will be responsible for supporting the staff team to facilitate positive outcomes for the people we support.
The successful candidate will be skilled in modelling a range of emotional and interpersonal skills to develop culture and values that reinforce positive practice. You will utilise tools such as Positive Monitoring and supervisions to support staff in their day to day practice whilst providing appropriate feedback to build their confidence, consistency and supporting them to improve where required. You will also understand the importance of inclusion and person-centred planning, helping to ensure that people we support are involved in own their care and support from attending their own reviews to inputting into their own care plans.
The successful candidate will also be able to deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager along with liaising with the NAS PBS team in order to ensure the implementation of PBS for the people we support. The candidate will also need to have skills in line management activities including conducting appraisals, absence management, holding difficult conversations and possess the ability to think on their feet with strong decision-making skills. Skills in report writing, knowledge of regulatory standards and supporting Autistic people are also needed. Experience in working alongside multi-disciplinary teams to enable positive outcomes for our supported individuals will help the right candidate stand out from others.
You may have a personal connection, a desire to work with or real life experiences working with autistic people. You’ll have experience in a managerial role, the desire to progress your career, and if you share our values and are willing to make a difference to the lives of autistic people, we’d love to hear from you.
We need you to be resilient, person centred, supportive and sensitive towards the needs of autistic people and have a background in supporting autistic people in previous roles within a social care environment.
A QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is a required qualification for this role and possession of a BTEC level 4 in PBS is desirable.

Your working pattern will be varied over a seven day, on call rota and could include weekends and bank holidays.
