Job Title: Senior Director of Emergency Shelter Services
Reports To: VP of Operations

Salary Range: $105,000 - $125,000
Overview:
The Senior Director of Shelter Programs (SDS) oversees staff and services for Heading Home’s state-funded Emergency Assistance Programs. Working closely with Heading Home’s VP of Operations and program directors, the SDS ensures that participants receive appropriate, high-quality services to help them end their homelessness, obtain sustainable permanent housing, and achieve other goals. The SDS reviews on an ongoing basis services being offered and develops new programs or modifies existing ones as needs and resources evolve. The position’s responsibilities include program planning; supervision and support of staff; compliance with applicable regulations, grant requirements, and safety standards; data gathering and continuous improvement; as well as budget development and oversight.
Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:
General
- Provide effective and inspiring leadership within the organization as a whole
- Represent Heading Home in interactions with external constituency groups, including community, governmental, and private organizations. Collaborate with external partners to promote the success of Heading Home’s programs and advance the field as a whole
- Provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range plans for all programs
- Within the Shelter and EA program area, oversee organizational processes and procedures to ensure success; bring together staff and other stakeholders as needed to assess and improve these aspects of program operations. Play a key role in similar efforts at the organization level and with outside partners
- Ensure that all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of Heading Home
Personnel
- Supervise, coach, support, and assess direct reports, and support them in doing the same for the staff they oversee.
- Lead a high performing team of director and managers to the next level by further developing and implementing recruitment, training, support, and retention strategies in consultation with Human Resources.
- Promote regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff to give feedback on program operations and contribute to improving them
Budget
- In collaboration with other leaders and the Finance Department, ensure the continued financial viability of Heading Home’s Shelter and EA programs through sound fiscal management
- Participate in budget development process and monitor and maintain alignment with program budgets; report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
Compliance and safety
- Ensure that all services are carried out in compliance with all relevant regulations and funder requirements
- Ensure implementation of all State and organizational policies and procedures as well as programmatic guidelines
Other
- Assist the CEO and Development team in planning, organizing, and implementing public and private fund-raising initiatives and volunteer activities

Office is open to the public and visitors only by appointment. Position requires a minimum of four days onsite. Office is climate controlled with heat and air conditioning.
