We are hiring a PER DIEM(14 hours a week) SOCIAL WORKER for our In-School Social Worker Program with Catholic Charities of Buffalo for St. Peters Catholic School in Lewiston.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Catholic Charities School Social Worker will deliver comprehensive services for elementary/middle school students, families and school personnel. Services provided include social emotional learning instruction through classroom presentations, individual counseling, group counseling, and staff development, as well as linkage and referral for other services to address needs, including social determinants of health. Crisis intervention, lethality assessment and safety planning required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Exemplify Catholic Charities' mission, vision, guiding principles and policies and procedures
- Adhere to high ethical standards, consistent with the Catholic Charities' Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, legal mandates & labor laws, NYS Justice Center, and other accreditation standards (e.g. COA, BBB).
- In accordance with In-School Social Work Program policies, procedures and practice standards, provide on-site social emotional learning instruction to students at-risk of academic engagement in identified Catholic schools.
- Provide client-centered, strengths-based, solution-focused trauma-informed care in the context of systems.
- Cultivate a culture of sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Coordinate consultation and staff development services for teachers and principals to expand strategies and interventions for strengthening social emotional learning, classroom management, responding to child safety and well-being concerns and increasing parental involvement.
- Develop & strengthen family-school-agency-community partnerships. Serve as a liaison between students, families and school personnel, including educating school personnel and parents about accessing community services and programs available to them.
- Identify and respond to school community needs and emerging trends.
- Track services provided and demographics, related to those served via CCB School-based Services Department Case Management database system. Responsible for timely entry in compliance with contract and funder requirements, agency policies and procedures, and program tenets.
- Provide crisis intervention, lethality assessment, safety planning, and incident reporting.
- Actively participate on CCB program and department meetings and committees and in both agency-sponsored and Diocese-sponsored events; requiring some non-traditional hours.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, other related degree; Master's degree preferred; combination of relevant experience and degree considered
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule in order to participate in agency-related activities/events that may take place outside of typical business hours.
