Summary of Responsibilities: The Food Sourcing Specialist position will support Forgotten Harvest’s food rescue goals by working with and in support of our retail and other local donors to maximize food donations while ensuring agreed pickup frequency and donation guidelines are adhered to.
Duties/Essential Functions:
- Work with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities with our retail donors to increase donations.
- Assist with implementation of a donor recognition program.
- Meet regularly to educate retail store and department managers on their food donation standards and guidelines.
- Cultivate and further develop relationships with existing donors to increase donations.
- Solicit feedback from retail partners to improve service and process.
- Create and maintain a store donation toolkit.
- Collaborate with Food Sourcing and Marketing Team on PR/Communications to ensure recognition of donors where applicable.
- Provide internal monthly activity report of store level interactions.
- Manage and update donor records in various systems.
- Uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of Forgotten Harvest.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 4-year degree and/or comparable experience.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with exceptional initiative and judgment.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrated ability to analyze, deduce and problem solve.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and effective listening skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; sensitive to the needs of donors, volunteers, and peers.
- Experience in the retail grocery industry, food industry, food banking or sales experience a plus.
- Flexible, energetic, creative, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work in intense and sometimes conflicted settings.
- Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record as determined by FH insurance company, and valid personal auto insurance.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-Starter.
- Strong External Customer Focus.
- Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and select weekends.
- Represent Forgotten Harvest professionally.
- Serv-Safe certified.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- General office working conditions.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
- Travel to meetings, appointments, store visits and other FH locations, etc.
- 75% local travel within Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties, 25% in office.
