Position Profile:
The Family Ministries Director is directly responsible for all aspects of Kids (birth through fifth grade) and Student Ministries (sixth through twelfth grade) on the campus. They work with the Campus Pastor to accomplish the overall vision and purposes of the church, Lapeer Campus.
Skill Set:
The Family Ministries Director is a strong communicator with biblical teaching, skilled at contextualizing concepts in a way that kids and students can understand. They possess strong vision, organizational leadership, and shepherding skills. The director is a team player with the ability to relate to kids and students as well as work directly with families of the church, Lapeer Campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops relationships with kids, students, leaders, parents, the church as a family, and the surrounding community.
- Builds trust with each of the above relationships through Godly living and love.
- Serves as the primary communicator to the students and families in conjunction with the other campuses.
- Recruits, trains, mentors, and appreciates volunteer leaders (e.g., teachers, small group leaders, tech booth operators, check-in admins, etc.).
- Provides congregational care (hospital visits/funerals/counseling/on call) for students in the ministry, their families, and the campus when needed.
- Shares stories consistently with the Campus Pastor of where God is at work.
- Conducts visitor follow-up through email, phone calls, and/or notes.
- Grows the Kids and Student Ministries through teaching the gospel, outreach events, and helping outsiders connect with our church.
- Plans and structures main events for students - ideally one per semester during school and one per month during summer (e.g., student lock-in, trips to Cedar Point, pumpkin-carving contests, etc.).
- Develops goals and objectives and reports progress through EDGE development system under the leadership of the Campus Pastor.
- Leads the Kids and Student Ministries under the established vision, strategy, and ministry DNA.
- Participates as part of the Kids and Student Ministries multi-site teams to dream, design, and evaluate the implementation of the church's vision and strategy.
- Develops and leads teams that oversee Kids and Student Ministries weekend services, special events, and other assigned programs.
- Oversees recruiting, screening, training, and development of Kids and Student Ministries weekend services, special event volunteers, and leaders.
- Oversees the Kids Ministry guest check-in and information desk with the help of the Campus Administrative Assistant.
- Oversees all areas of weekly ministry for Kids and Student Ministries including curriculum, program, resources, volunteers, and coordinators.
- Works with Kids and Students Ministries multi-site teams to choose and develop curriculum.
- Oversees, plans, coordinates, and promotes special events for Kids and Student Ministries.
- Hosts Leadership Team meetings and training for Kids and Student Ministries volunteers.
- Coordinates volunteer appreciation as needed.
- Follows Child Protection Program procedures.
- Attends weekly campus staff meetings.
- Meets regularly with Kids and Student Ministries staff.
- Oversees the campus budget for Kids and Student Ministries.

Ensures that all actions performed within the context of this job position accomplish and further the mission, vision, and values of the church (Belong, Grow, Reach).
Committed to being a member in good standing of the church. Actively engaged in Life Groups, attending, worshiping, giving, serving, and praying for the church body.

Experience Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree required. Demonstrates an understanding of Christian education for Kids and Student Ministries within the local church.
- Demonstrates an ability to relate to and work under the direction and vision of the executive leadership of the church and with the Kids and Student Ministries team from all campuses.
- Ability to develop and adapt to the changing needs of the ministry as it grows.
- Competent in recruiting, motivating, encouraging, and equipping adult and student small group leaders, teachers, and parents.
- Agrees and abides by the philosophy, variables, and non-negotiable's of the Kids and Student Ministries guides.
