What we offer:

Job Functions:
The Intake Specialist assists with the daily functions of intake, provides support to interns, ensures families going through the intake process experience Hope, dignity, and access to appropriate programs, resources and shelter.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Completes intakes and follow ups with potential residents and their families. Completes intake assessments and program prescreening questions to ensure accurate information and resources are being provided for intake completion.
- Ensures Intake is flowing efficiently, there is minimal wait for clients seeking shelter, and responds to questions in a timely manner.
- Assist with monitoring programs referral process to ensure clients are referred to the appropriate program(s).
- Enters data into electronic platforms and ensures data required elements are up to date with real time information from intake clients. Completes all required Metropolitan Ministries paperwork in a timely manner according to established deadlines.
- Maintains and monitors families and singles on the wait list to ensure follow up from initial application through shelter entry. Provides and coordinates regular follow up throughout application process.
- Assists with reviewing documents and determining if additional paperwork is needed from client and next steps. Using Motivational Interviewing to gauge client’s interest in programs and share information with CM team during family transfer meetings.
- Ensures clients receive services that fulfill our mission instilling hope with respect and dignity.
- Assist as needed with conflict resolution with intake clients providing resolutions while maintaining dignity and a positive customer service experience. Escalate cases to Supervisor when necessary.
- Develops relationships with referral sources to ensure ongoing referrals and ease of referral process for the provider and potential client.
- Ensures clients that do not meet criteria receive hopeful, empathic connection to more appropriate services/community referrals.
- Provides recovery and counseling assessments to intake clients as needed.
- Regularly communicates with other team members and interacts in a positive, constructive, and helpful manner to promote cohesiveness, reduce conflict, and provide for resolution.
- Coordinates resident move-ins in established timeframes ensuring efficiency and occupancy is at a minimum of 95%
- Participates in community outreach and committees as needed and directed. Maintain partnerships as it relates to client services.
- Attend weekly Team meeting as needed and participate actively as a team member.
- Meet personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals as stated on the KPI and in the annual plan. Attend required staff meetings and on-going trainings. Support the holiday tent operations as directed. Adheres to all policies, procedures, and strategic plan initiatives of Metropolitan Ministries.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field or related area. Master’s degree preferred. Must be knowledgeable about homeless population and needs, with experience providing intakes and assessments in a fast-paced environment with the ability to engage families.
Skills Requirements:
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; strong interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communications skills; dependability; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in clients served; ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner; willing to work with minimal supervision, yet be able to seek and accept direction; well organized and detail oriented.
Physical Requirements:
Hearing and speaking ability, which allows for effective oral communication; physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job related issues and stress.
Other:
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Must possess a valid FL driver’s license with a good driving record and insured vehicle in order to transport self and clients when necessary.
