JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with residents, families, and staff.
- Possess an understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of the aged.
- Have ability to generate enthusiasm and interest in participating in activities and developing friendships among resident members.
- Time management skills to plan, organize, implement, and document activities of independent and assisted living residents. Change the goals and objectives when necessary.
- Proficient computer skills.
ENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION:
- Select, plan, coordinate and direct a wide scope of daily activities (including internal & external instructors) which meet the social, recreational, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of our independent and assisted living residents.
- Coordinate functions outside Scotia Village, including overnight trips, day trips, restaurant visits, theater, etc. in consultation with the Activities Committee. Accompany members on such trips or select a staff member to attend.
- Collaborate with Household Facilitators on activities for Assisted Living Residents.
- Design, edit and distribute the monthly activity newsletter.
- Plan and post monthly activities calendars for assisted living residents.
- Coordinate services with other departments and organizations, including transportation, food and beverage service and housekeeping support, for an activity or program. Meet with other departments as necessary to coordinate functions, arrange for necessary equipment and to anticipate and solve areas of concern.
- Introduce speakers and oversee resident programs.
- Attend Residents’ Association Social Activities Committee meeting for the purpose of gaining regular feedback and input into the activities calendar.
- Develop individual activities for assisted living residents, as needed.
- Maintain documentation on electronic medical charts regarding assisted living resident’s status or location changes. Document all significant activity data in electronic medical charts.
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, conferences, and other meetings as requested by Director of Resident Services.
- Adhere to department safety rules and exhibit a good safety attitude towards the overall community safety program.
- Complete monthly required Relias training.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Director of Resident Services.
