Agape has an open STARS Connector Supervisor position available. As a poverty-reduction initiative, Agape, through its place-based strategy, Powerlines Community Network (PCN), implements a Two-Generation paradigm. The Stars Connector Supervisor works within identified schools, supervising the work of Agape's Stars Connectors. This position coordinates efforts to serve at-risk youth within their school setting and in their communities. The goal of the Stars Connector Supervisor is to supervise, lead, and monitor Connectors in both the school and community settings. The Supervisor is responsible for building relationships with school faculty and administration as well as members of the community. They must ensure that Connectors are meeting the needs of youth and parents in a culturally sensitive manner by wholly serving them in a poverty-reduction model that provides support, permanency, and sustainability to the program participants. The Supervisor will be responsible for auditing the Connectors case management work in Penelope. Through this two-generation model, Supervisors and Connectors will connect families in schools and communities to improve student attendance, behavior, and parental engagement with the students education. Stars staff will serve students and their families through a holistic, strength-based model, connecting them to needed resources that will help create a more nurturing environment for children and families.
Works in collaborations with partner agency/business, schools, apartment communities, and surrounding areas to provide holistic wraparound services for both parents and children, using the 2-Gen focus based largely on Aspen Institutes work: Early Childhood Education, Post-secondary Education and Workforce, Economic Supports, Health and Well-Being, and Social Capital.
Additionally, they should demonstrate an ability to work with a wide range of people, knowledge of social services delivery systems, knowledge of resources, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), proven ability as a problem solver and self-starter, excellent computer skills, as well as demonstrated user orientation, organizational, and time management skills.
The Stars Connector Supervisor should ensure program quality, transparency, and accurate reporting.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise, lead and monitor the school and site-based service delivery to ensure individuals/families are receiving services needed (early childhood education; post-secondary education and workforce; economic supports; health and well-being; and social capital), fidelity to service delivery models are being adhered to, guidelines are being followed, and that key indicators and measures are input, monitored, reported and used to inform strategic decisions.
- May direct activities of professional and technical staff members and volunteers.
- Supervise Stars Connectors that carry a student caseload having expectations that include:
- Using a peer-based approach and the Check and Connect Mentoring Model.
- Conducting and updating individual/family needs assessment with each family's participation to develop an individualized service plan for each youth noting needed, desired, and requested services and resources. Providing referrals as needed.
- Providing two-generational, family-driven, and strength-based services to youth and families who need particular resources and assistance.
- Focusing on site-based or school-based obligations, goals, and objectives, in addition to family social and economic goals.
- Working in partnership with all other agencies involved and through the Powerlines Community Network, led by Agape Child & Family Services. Agape is a data-informed agency. The Stars Connector Supervisor must use data from case management for the continuous quality improvement process.
- Provide reporting and other activities to ensure compliance with grants and other funding.
- Recommend changes in the status of subordinate employees and prospective employees such as hiring, advancement, promotion, demotion, pay increases, probation, termination, etc.
- Enforce agency policies and procedures and assist and engage in disciplinary action of subordinate employees where necessary.
- Ensure the maintenance of current and accurate documentation of services in Agape's Penelope Case Management System.
- Complete internal reports and provide information concerning stability.
- Conduct regular supervisory meetings with staff, coordination meetings with school point of contact and the school principal.
- Attend and represent Agape in appropriate meetings and training with other agencies.
- Attend Multidisciplinary Team Meetings and other in-service trainings provided by the agency.
- Conducts regular team meetings.
- Must be able to work with a flexible schedule, which would allow for needed interaction and involvement for the tasks of this position i.e. weekend and evening hours, etc.
- During the summer, when school is not in session, the Stars Connectors and the Stars Connector Supervisors will work to support Agape's summer camp initiatives as well as maintain contact with their caseload students and families.
- Will perform all other duties, within the general scope of this position, as requested by the Site Coordinator, the PCN Operations Director, or other members of Agape Leadership.
II. Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and timely reports for case records according to Agape procedures and grant standards through data entry into Agape's case management system, Penelope.
- Be prompt in initiating and replying to all correspondence and inquiries.
- Submit timely reports of all referrals and services.
- Actively participate in Agape's PQI Process, using data to inform supervision and team practices.
III. Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with the teachers, staff, and administration in the assigned school.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and approved and planned relevant workshops, seminars, and training events.
- Attend workshops and conferences, as approved or planned by the agency, to improve and enhance skills and delivery of services.
- Participate and help coordinate agency functions, i.e., Annual Dinner, Recruitment, Campaign, occasional fundraisers, adoption ceremonies, etc.
- Will participate in agency planning and development, especially specific to programmatic related areas.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
- Prolonged walking and standing, and climbing stairs within schools and community sites.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
