About AGUA
Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics, known as AGUA, is Asphalt Green’s competitive swim team based in New York City.
AGUA has been recognized as a USA Swimming Gold Club and has achieved Level 4 Club Recognition. The program is home to more than 300 athletes, with alumni who include Olympic medalists and USA Swimming National and National Junior Team members.
AGUA promotes excellence and inclusion and offers a strong scholarship program and institutional support. The team is located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, with a satellite program in Battery Park City.
About the Role
Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics is seeking an experienced, energetic, and committed Part-Time Age Group Coach to assist lead coaches with AGUA practices, meets, training, and team activities.
This role supports the development of age group swimmers by helping reinforce AGUA’s established training curriculum, maintaining strong lane management, supporting athletes on deck, and contributing to a positive, focused, and inclusive team environment.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a team-oriented coach, and someone who is committed to AGUA’s core values, goals, and mission. This role requires weekday availability starting at 4:00 PM and may include participation in home meets, local meets, team-building events, and other team functions as needed.

What You’ll Do
Coaching and Athlete Development
- Assist lead coaches during AGUA practices at the Upper East Side campus.
- Support age group swimmers during practices, training sessions, and team activities.
- Help implement and reinforce AGUA’s established training curriculum.
- Provide clear instruction, feedback, and encouragement to swimmers.
- Support proper technique, training habits, effort, focus, and team expectations.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined practice environment.
- Encourage athlete growth, confidence, sportsmanship, and accountability.
Practice Support and Lane Management
- Maintain strong lane management during practices.
- Help organize swimmers, intervals, drills, sets, and practice flow as directed by lead coaches.
- Support safe and effective on-deck coaching.
- Reinforce expectations around attendance, effort, behavior, and team culture.
- Communicate swimmer needs, progress, and concerns to lead coaches when appropriate.
- Help ensure practices run smoothly, safely, and consistently.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with AGUA coaching staff to support team goals and training plans.
- Follow guidance from lead coaches and program leadership.
- Participate in coaching discussions, team planning, and program communication as needed.
- Support a consistent coaching approach across training groups.
- Represent AGUA and Asphalt Green professionally with swimmers, families, staff, and meet officials.
Meets and Team Events
- Participate in home meets and local meets as required.
- Support swimmers during meets, warmups, races, and team activities.
- Assist with meet-day communication, organization, and athlete support.
- Participate in team-building and social functions as needed.
- Help foster a strong team environment and positive athlete experience.

A successful AGUA Part-Time Age Group Coach will:
- Arrive prepared and on time for weekday practices starting at 4:00 PM.
- Support lead coaches effectively during practices and meets.
- Maintain strong lane management and swimmer engagement.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with swimmers, coaches, families, and staff.
- Reinforce AGUA’s training curriculum and team expectations.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team culture.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and professionalism on deck.
- Participate in required meets and team functions.
- Show enthusiasm for coaching education, athlete development, and the sport of swimming.
Who You’ll Work With
The AGUA Part-Time Age Group Coach works closely with AGUA lead coaches, Aquatics leadership, athletes, families, meet officials, and other Asphalt Green staff.
This role reports to David Rodriguez and will support the AGUA coaching team in delivering a high-quality competitive swimming experience.

Schedule and Work Environment
This is a part-time, in-person role based primarily at Asphalt Green’s Upper East Side campus, with possible support at the Battery Park City location.
The expected schedule begins on weekdays at 4:00 PM. Additional availability may be required for home meets, local meets, team-building events, and team functions.
The work environment includes indoor pool areas, on-deck coaching spaces, swim meets, and team-related events. This role requires regular interaction with swimmers, coaches, families, and Aquatics staff.
