Position Summary
The Director of Audio Visual Ministries (AVM) ensures that Glide Church’s message of radical inclusivity, love, and justice is transmitted seamlessly across in-person and virtual platforms. This role integrates cutting-edge technology with the church’s faith-based programming to create high-quality, meaningful worship experiences for both the congregation and a broader digital audience. In alignment with the church’s mission to break cycles of marginalization and empower all individuals, the Director of AVM oversees sound, video, and live streaming, ensuring that the message of social justice and spiritual healing reaches everyone, regardless of location. By enhancing the church’s technological capacities, this director supports Glide’s vision of a radically inclusive community that embraces innovation as a tool for love and connection.

Core Responsibilities- The Director Audio Visual Ministries produces both in-person and virtual Sunday Celebrations.
- Sets up, installs, operates, tests, and troubleshoots audio and video equipment as needed for the best possible atmosphere for Sunday Celebration through sound reinforcement. This includes but is not limited to: Leading in the creation of the best music mix possible, creating an audio mix that meets the mood the pastor wants to convey, supporting the audio needs of the people involved with the church service.
- Recruits and trains A/V Assistants.
- Runs AV system through the sanctuary Wirecast system.
- Creates and manages a Pre-Celebration, During Celebration, and Post-Celebration A/V Protocol, including audio and video equipment inventory, storage, and safety.
- Integrates digital graphics/slides created in partnership with Church Creative Director.
- Collaborates closely with Minister of Celebration, Celebration Planning Team, and Director of Music Ministries.
- Live streams Celebration Sunday mornings.
- Streams and uploads videos to all identified social media platforms.
- Runs presentation software.
- Works in church Sunday mornings from 7am-3pm (may split remaining hours between in-person and remote work during the week for tech meetings, rehearsals, and A/V upkeep; must be available for all major holiday Celebration services with notice for time off excluding Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas Eve).
- Acts as Ensemble and Change Band Manager for offsite gigs, assessing venue and coordinating with offsite AV venue management.
Minimum Qualifications- Either has experience mixing audio successfully in the live environment or is willing to attend training and work alongside a mentor.
- Has 3-4 years of experience directing, managing, coordinating live production communities and online communities; will accept equivalent experience in event coordination, meeting coordination, or stage managing.
- Has an advanced understanding of live church, live music, or live theater production.
- Has advanced understanding of sanctuary A/V systems and technologies used in church production such as Livestream, Zoom, Wirecast, ECamm, Cameras, and Cabling.
- Knowledge of sound boards, strategizing, and troubleshooting, all in service of sharing Sunday.
- Has a “horizontal leadership style,” monitoring emerging online technologies for ways to enhance and update in-person and online presence and platforms.
- Must be collaborative, creative, show design initiative and innovation.
- Able to meet deadlines, have strong communication skills, and a keen eye for detail and editorial/visual design care.
- Strong proficiency in Wirecast, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), WordPress or equivalent content management system (CMS), HTML, Microsoft Publisher, Media Shout, and ability to work on Mac and PC platforms (Word/Pages, Excel/Numbers, PowerPoint/Keynote). Photography skills are a plus.
- Proficiency with recording, projecting, and streaming through various platforms: Ecamm, Zoom, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
- Ability to articulate, across platforms and audience, Glide Memorial Church values.
- Strong grasp of basic mathematical functions
- Proficiency in MS Office suite
