Overview:
The CDC Foundation is seeking a General Epidemiologist who possess the ability to plan, develop, and conduct epidemiologic investigations, surveillance, and interventions limited in scope and/or complexity to determine the causes of diseases and implement methods of disease control. Additionally, this position will collect, analyze, and interpret statistical data and will prepare epidemiologic reports and will work to promote and protect health and safety.
Qualifications:
•Master of Public Health (MPH) or a closely related field from an accredited college or university with at least two (2) years of relevant work experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field
•Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engaging in strategic partnerships
•Proficiency with strong understanding of design and implementation of research and epidemiologic studies
•Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities
•Strong interpersonal skills required for teamwork and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners
•Knowledge of SAS, SPSS, STATA, or other statistical software
•Proficiency in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports
•Excellent written and oral communications
•Ability to remain calm under intense stress in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Possess strong data management and analysis skills
•Experience conducting research on epidemiology of infectious diseases
•Experience with data visualization (e.g., Tableau)
•Experience with Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS)
Responsibilities:
•Assist with planning and conducting investigations of diseases as allowable through the funding source
•Perform formal case control and cohort studies of complex health issues
•Provide related consultation to departmental staff and others
•Design, implement, and maintain disease surveillance
•Provide training, technical assistance, and consultative services regarding epidemiology and the control of diseases
•Serve as a point of contact for various personnel regarding moderately complex epidemiologic issues
•Writes various epidemiologic reports
•Perform various duties in support of section operations
•Develop policies and procedures for new and existing disease control programs
•Prepare technical and non-technical summaries of work, scientific reports, and manuscripts
