Emerson Collective Internship Program
Emerson Collective’s summer internship program places college-aged students in paid internship opportunities across Emerson Collective and our affiliate partners XQ Institute, E Pluribus Unum, and Chicago CRED.
Candidates can apply to a maximum of three positions. Any additional applications will not be considered.
The Opportunity
The Technology team at Emerson Collective consists of software engineers, data scientists, and product managers spanning new product development, engineering, data science, and information technology. Our mission is to engage, inspire, and empower communities within and beyond the Collective through human-centric tech solutions – to do that, we collaborate with diverse partners to build and advocate for a safe and responsible technological future. We look for opportunities to make change using technology. The intern will collaborate with Emerson Collective and our portfolio partners to deliver programs that empower more technologists and make technology accessible to a wider audience.

Role and Responsibilities - Research emerging technologies and AI policy trends, leveraging online resources, reports, webinars, learning sessions, and more.
- Collect and analyze data on technology trends and adoption rates within the social sector.
- Generate reports, memos, and landscapes with data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to discussions on programs that empower others to use technology responsibly.
- Develop an open-sourced library of tools and resources to support technology implementation.
- Support the planning and execution of tech events to bring together technologists for knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements- Rising undergraduate junior or senior with a strong interest in technology.
- Passionate, knowledgeable, and eager to learn and explore new technologies and their applications for social good.
- Insatiable desire and belief that tech and data can contribute to positive change with the perseverance to guide innovation in the field.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines using Asana, a project management tool.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication to technical and non-technical audiences.

Location
Emerson Collective is a Bay Area-based organization with offices in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. This position is located in New York, NY, and is onsite 40 hours/week between June 9th and August 1st, 2025.
Key Dates
November 18 - January 10: Internship applications accepted, and interviews commence on a rolling basis. Please note that not all applicants will be selected for interviews.
January 10 - March 7: Interviews continue, and offers are extended.
June 9: Internship program begins.
August 1: Internship program concludes.
Compensation
All EC Interns are paid $25/hour and can expect to work 40 hours per week from June 9th to August 1st (eight weeks). Interns may also receive travel and housing allowances as needed.
This position requires being up to date on COVID vaccination consistent with current CDC guidelines, subject to documented religious and/or medical exemptions.
