Carpentry Apprentice:
This Carpentry Apprentice position is offered under the terms of the Stanford University and SEIU Apprenticeship Program. The purpose of this program is to train an Apprentice to be a well-rounded Maintenance Carpenter to support the maintenance needs of Residential and Dining Enterprises facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Working under general supervision, employees in this classification perform skilled carpentry work at the journey level in the construction, maintenance, and repair of structures, equipment, and fixtures.
- Work is assigned by the supervisor or lead and carried out by the carpenter independently, selecting methods most suitable for the job.
- Work is spot-checked for quality during progress and upon completion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor in all types of outside weather conditions.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass an aptitude test (math, English, and critical thinking) with a score of at least 80%.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Non-commercial Driver’s License.
