The Stanford-Surgery Policy Improvement Research and Education (S-SPIRE) Unit committed to:
- Improving the value of healthcare through research that informs policy and implementation;
- Promoting a surgical health services research community through mentorship and collaboration;
- Developing innovative mixed methodologies.
Our interdisciplinary team includes clinical and research faculty with expertise in implementation science, health economics, bioinformatics, and quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies.
We are seeking a Biostatistician 1 to work closely with senior statistician(s) to manage relevant databases as necessary, design studies, devise analysis plan, create analytic files, implement analysis plan and report and publish findings.
Duties include:
- Design study.
- Implement protocol for quality control.
- Create analytic files with detailed documentation.
- Implement data analysis through statistical programming.
- Present results for investigators using graphs and tables.
- Summarize findings orally and in written form.
- Participate in the preparation of papers for publication.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Previous work experience in an academic institution, or academic hospital setting preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- Proficient in at least two of R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA.
- Skills in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphic interfaces.
- Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Frequently perform desk based computer tasks, seated work and use light/ fine grasping.
- Occasionally stand, walk, and write by hand, lift, carry, push pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
