This is an excellent opportunity for a Director of Philanthropy, Principal & Major Gifts (40 hrs. /wk.) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Director of Principal and Major Gifts will lead and manage a team of philanthropy officers for the agency’s Principal and Major Gifts program. They will develop and execute the plan to meet and exceed established goals for the principal and major gifts area. As a senior member of the Development team, the Director of Principal and Major Gifts will develop gift opportunities and fundraising strategies to secure leadership and transformational philanthropic commitments, including planned gifts. The successful candidate will carry a portfolio of donors and prospects, while leading a team with donor portfolios totaling 450 or more.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

· Comprehensive understanding of philanthropy including trends and tactics and all stages of the donor cycle

· Demonstrated success securing six and seven figure gifts

· Demonstrated leadership ability, with strong project management and supervisory skills, including managing a team.

· Effective interpersonal, oral and written communications with the demonstrated ability and desire to successfully engage with people from many backgrounds and points of view, including donors, colleagues, community members, agents of wealth, and grantors

· Track record of success in developing fundraising strategies to expand and advance principal and major giving.

· Knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets and estates

· Requires problem-solving, research and analytical skills as it relates to all aspects of the donor experience

· Experience with a capital campaign or other special fundraising campaigns

· Must be self-directed and results-oriented

· Ability to work independently within a team as well as collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus a minimum of five - seven years of philanthropy/fundraising with demonstrated career progression; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered

· CFRE certification a plus.

· Demonstrated supervisory experience

· Experience working in a CRM/donor database, preferably in Raiser’s Edge / NXT

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary.

This position requires travel statewide. Must have transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintains a portfolio of donors and prospects, with the goal of securing major, leadership, principal, planned, and foundation gifts
- In partnership with the agency leadership, builds and manages a network of relationships framed within the community centric model to facilitate collaboration and deepen relationships
- Develops and implements strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, close and steward donors in partnership with the Chief Philanthropic and Brand Strategy officer, the VP of Development and the CEO
- Advises in the development and execution of coordinated strategies aimed to maximize the life-time engagement and philanthropic support of PPWI’s principal and major donors
- Further develops, implements, and manages the donor discovery process and the overall Principal and Major Gifts program’s pipeline development, supporting donor experience efforts across all categories of giving and adding value to the individual and collective goals of the team
- Establishes and/or further develops Principal and Major Gift officer performance metrics and standards to meet or exceed the agency’s fundraising goals and in support of the agency’s strategic priorities
- Administer the moves management process for the Principal and Major gifts team to ensure major gift fundraising procedures and best practices are adhered to, including CRM documentation/data integrity
- Further develops and implements a robust planned giving program in support of a holistic view and approach to donor cultivation, stewardship and solicitation
- Accurately tracks and reports on key performance indicators for the Principal and Major Gifts program, ensuring critical activities are carried out in order to deliver annual goals
- Accountable to established individual performance metrics, including individual and Principal and Major Gifts team fundraising goals
