LSF is seeking a talented Food Service Manager who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.
Purpose and Impact:
The Food Service Manager will be responsible for cooking for the youth as well as ensuring ingredients are tagged, date-labeled, covered, stored and rotated effectively. The Food Service Manager will also maintain the proper food levels; restock items on time; and keep utensils and equipment clean and sanitary. This is a non-direct care position.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare quality food for youth.
- Assistance in menu preparation to ensure compliance with specified standards and recommendations by the American Dietetic Association, funding source, State licensing, National School Lunch Programs (NSLP) and LSF guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe and hazard-free dining room and kitchen facilities at all times.
- Ensure the kitchen facilities are in compliance with health department standards.
- Assist in maintaining inventory for food purchases and equipment including monitoring monthly waste control.
- Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving.
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
Other Functions:
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
- Apportion and serve food to facility residents.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping and lifting up to 30 pounds required to complete daily tasks. Most activities include repetitive motions and can include overhead reaching.
Education:
Associate degree in Culinary Arts, Culinary Management or related required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in food service preparation within a residential, institutional or educational, or large restaurant setting.
Skills:
Must possess a valid state driver’s license preferred and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required by contractual agreement.
Bilingualâ¯English/Spanish is required.
Other:
Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

- Reports to Program Director.
- Team player with co-workers and program/shelter staff.
- Accurate, complete and timely submission of required reports, and paperwork.
- Cost effective program operations.
- Adherence to agency policies and management practices.
- Effective staff management and leadership.
