Job Description
The JF Hurley Family YMCA is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven servant leader to serve as Associate Executive Director. This key leadership position plays an integral role in advancing the YMCA’s cause by ensuring exceptional day-to-day branch operations while modeling the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Under the direction of the COO/Branch Executive, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for the daily operational oversight of the branch, providing direct leadership and supervision to multiple program areas, including Youth Sports and Youth Development (camp, afterschool, and teen initiatives). This role works closely with department leaders to ensure programs are high-quality, safe, inclusive, and aligned with the YMCA’s mission and strategic priorities.
In addition to operational leadership, the Associate Executive Director will champion the branch’s risk management efforts, partnering with the Vice President of Risk to ensure a strong culture of safety, compliance, and accountability. This includes implementing and monitoring policies and procedures, supporting staff training, and proactively identifying and addressing potential risks to protect members, staff, and the organization.

Qualifications
Know How:
BA/BS degree in recreation management, business administration,or related field and minimum of four years YMCA work experience or equivalent experience preferred. Background must include strong skills in human relations, budgeting, sound fiscal management, financial development, program management, volunteer and staff development, committee and board relations and staff supervision.

Essential Functions
Job Segments:
· Help develop, manage, and monitor the branch-operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
· Assist COO in the development of the Branch Board of Managers and committees.
· Guide the development and management of branch programs to meet the needs of the community and achieve association operating objectives.
· Ensure outstanding customer/member service and meet all Association standards.
· Implement YMCA values and mission in all programs and all aspects of branch operations.
· Direct the annual giving campaign with a volunteer campaign director, under the direction of the COO.
· Direct staff and volunteers on implementation of membership campaigns.
· Coordinate staff and volunteer development, which includes recruitment, team building, training, evaluations, recognition, coaching, and termination.
· Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
· Assist with public relations and marketing efforts for all operations of the branch.
· Prepare reports regarding programs, membership, staff development etc., as needed.
· Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership team of the Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA and other responsibilities, as assigned.
· Oversee management and maintenance of the facility and equipment (if assigned*)
· Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential funding sources, both private and public.
· Assist program directors in increasing quality, participation, and safety of programs.
· Partner with V.P. of Risk and Safety to coordinate safety drills (Fire, Pool, Missing Child, Emergency etc.) and develop and coordinate EAP trainings for staff.
· Other duties as assigned by the COO.
Effect On End Results:
The Associate Executive is responsible for the overall success of the branch and its operating units. This position is primarily concerned with ensuring quality programs and building positive long-term relationships with community and members. This branch is viewed as a resource to the total association as it strives to meet its mission and goals.
Therefore, successful fulfillment of this position should be measured by:
· Achieving the annual giving campaign goals.
· Increasing/improving program quality.
· Continuing to grow membership and program enrollment.
· Increasing utilization of volunteers.
· Guiding the Branch Board of Managers towards effective administration.
· Increasing diversity of community involvement in membership, programs, and volunteer roles.
