The Nonprofit Center
The Nonprofit Center at 41 Community Place (NPC) offers capacity-building support to local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with the overall goal of advancing the health and well-being of Anne Arundel County residents. The Center houses nonprofit service providers, offering private office, co-working, and meeting spaces at below-market rates, and serves as an accelerator for smaller nonprofits at its location in Crownsville, Maryland. The NPC also offers professional development, networking opportunities, and resources to all 501(c)3 nonprofits that serve Anne Arundel County residents.

Position Description
This part-time, contractual position reports to the Executive Director of the Nonprofit Center. The employee will work both on and off-site to support the Nonprofit Center’s mission by performing the following duties:
Develop and implement effective marketing and outreach strategies to increase awareness of the Nonprofit Center’s programs, resources, and training opportunities
Draft and edit copy for publications, newsletters, press releases and other written materials
Design and distribute visually engaging materials both in print and online
Support the NPC strategic planning and the design of related documents and presentations
Enhance and maintain the Nonprofit Center’s social media presence
Regularly review and update website content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with current initiatives
Promote the Nonprofit Events Hub and NPC Job Board
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach campaigns
Assist the Professional Development Manager with planning, marketing and implementing NPC-sponsored programs and events (including set up of event spaces and technical assistance)
Assist Resident Organizations with creating promotional videos
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
This work is performed in an office environment and will periodically require the physical setup of meeting spaces, including lifting up to 40 pounds, for the NPC’s programming and events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Communications & Outreach Coordinator must be able to:
Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
Work independently and collaboratively, showing initiative, accountability, and follow through
Use word processing, spreadsheet, presentation (Google Suite) and design software effectively. Photography is a plus.
Adapt to changes in the work environment and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
Learn, understand and apply County policies and procedures
Possess a familiarity with and passion for the work of nonprofit organizations in the county
Be flexible and adjust work hours as needed
Have reliable transportation
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Equivalent experience considered.
Proficiency with social media, digital marketing. and content design tools. Please provide sample(s) of public work and/or project(s).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hours
28hrs/week, typically Monday - Thursday 1:30pm - 9:00pm with a 30 minute break. Later evenings and weekends on occasion.
This is a one-year contractual position with the opportunity to extend.
Salary
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
