Disability Engagement & Facilitation Lead -Te Ara Tūhononga Whaikaha
Part time – 20 – 24 hours per week
We are seeking a Disability Engagement Lead to design, deliver and facilitate initiatives that build capability, connection, and influence within the disability community. This role sits within our People & Transformation team with a key focus on leading our Changemaker Programme, developing learning opportunities and supporting a strong, engaged national network of disabled leaders.
The role also coordinates the National Disability Leadership Group (NDLG) and builds sector relationships that promote inclusion and equity.
This is a purpose-driven role for someone who is passionate about disability rights, leadership, and community connection, and who can translate lived experience into meaningful impact.
What you will do
- Lead the design, delivery, and ongoing development of the Changemaker Programme, including facilitation of online learning and connection spaces
- Build and support a strong national Changemaker community, including newsletters, resources, and engagement
- Coordinate and support the National Disability Leadership Group, ensuring members are connected and able to contribute meaningfully
- Coordinate and contribute to submissions to government and other stakeholders, grounded in lived experience
- Build strong relationships across the disability sector, including iwi, Pasifika, and Rainbow communities
- Maintain and monitor the Disability Leadership Framework and report on outcomes
What you will bring
- Strong understanding of disability rights, advocacy, and lived-experience leadership
- Commitment to the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles
- Experience in facilitation, leadership development, community building, or adult learning
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, including writing accessible content
- Cultural competence and ability to work across diverse communities
- Lived experience of disability
