Summary and Objective
You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment while assisting two (2) transition-aged (16–21 years) students with disabilities in learning and developing job skills at an assigned worksite at a local host business.
The Program is ten weeks in duration and operates four hours per day, from 9 AM to 1 PM.
Session One is from Monday, June 1, through Friday, July 11, 2026 (not operating the week of June 29 through July 3, 2026.
Session Two is from Monday, July 13, through Friday, August 15, 2026.
You will work approximately seven hours per day (the program operates four hours per day). Beyond this time, you will be responsible for completing the required documentation and may be responsible for transporting your students to and from the Program work site.
There is a mandatory 40-hour paid training/certification process prior to the assignment.
This position's starting rate is $18.00.
Essential Job Functions
- Work directly with two students at a local host business and assist them with learning and developing job skills and soft skills
- Communicate verbally and in writing regarding desired work and progress of training
- Attend scheduled work sessions with assigned groups
- Advocate for students and model appropriate work behaviors
- Ensure work site safety practices
Responsibilities
- Oversee youth participating in the program by OOD and DODD rules
- Complete and submit documentation, reports, and evaluations
- Provide transportation when applicable
- Follow Significant Incident Reporting and MUI/UIR procedures
- Report on changes or behavior issues to the appropriate staff
- Adhere to confidentiality policies
Qualifications
- 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Coursework in education/special education/transition-to-work preferred
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and fewer than 6 points
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Regular attendance
- Positive interpersonal skills
- Independent problem-solving ability
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow verbal instructions
- Excellent customer service skills
Work Environment / Physical Demands
- Indoor community work sites with possible exposure to infectious materials and challenging behaviors
- May involve sitting, standing, and lifting
- Occasionally lift or carry 20+ lbs.
