DescriptionPosition assists individuals experiencing or at-risk of homelessness who have mental illness and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder or other medical impairments apply for Social Security disability benefits through the SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, psychology, sociology, nursing, family studies, early childhood development or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years’ experience in human service delivery, counseling or in a community-based setting required. One-year experience working with families with mental illness or substance abuse preferred.
- Working knowledge of homeless management information system preferred.
- Preference given for qualified candidates who have lived experience of substance use disorder and/or homelessness.
- Experience with multi-cultural service delivery.
- Bilingual English/Spanish may be required in communities with high concentration of Hispanic families.
