Summary:
Successfully coordinate and implement specific division operations including fundraising, public relations, marketing and branding activities to enhance the visibility of Family Services Inc., and to meet agency fundraising goals. Responsible for executing the agency’s annual giving program efforts. Key responsibilities include planning and analyzing cost-effective direct mail strategies, annual fund events, advising the agency on revenue goals, and cultivating relationships with donors.
Essential Functions:
Philanthropy
- Manage the gift entry process for all gifts to ensure that all information entered into Raisers Edge is accurate by providing daily coordination and management.
- Complete all acknowledgement letters and share gift information with pertinent staff.
- Project manage Family Services special events that support Family Services annual giving goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with the Finance Department proactively to ensure accurate reporting and problem solving between departments. Manage the process for reconciling donation records with Finance Department
- Prepare and monitor budget reports to analyze the cost-efficiency of internal and external events in relation to annual fund goals.
- Oversee the development and management of fundraising volunteer support groups for special events in coordination with the Vice President.
- Identify, cultivate and solicit cash and in-kind sponsorships from individual donors, businesses and corporations, as appropriate, and in coordination with division staff and Board members.
Public Relations
- Ensures that all marketing materials (written, verbal, web, or digital) have a unified and consistent message and format. This includes, but is not limited to, fundraising materials, donor stewardship materials, annual reports, newsletters, website, and agency collateral.
- Oversees delivery of internal and external digital content/emails with timeliness.
- Establishes and maintains budgets for printing and other collateral materials.
- Responsible for coordinating, with supervisor, the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan that is specific to agency fundraising, and agency public relations goals.
- Coordinates management of the Family Services web site, including content, design, staff training, and management of on-line giving, online fundraising strategies, giving opportunities, agency news, and updates.
- Maintains professional competency by participating in field related continued training, education and personal growth experiences.
- Performs other duties as incumbent upon the position and as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree; or its equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years marketing or communications experience in a fundraising office.
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge NXT software and high computer aptitude.
- Ability to use graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Apple Pages, Acrobat, Adobe Premier, Final Cut, Word Press Gutenberg, etc.
- Strong proof-reading skills, familiarity with AP and Chicago styles.
- Ability to research and develop new communications programs to support agency fundraising and other division needs.
- Proven track record with fundraising communications tactics and strategies.
- Open, participatory, and flexible regarding new, proven trends in delivery of fundraising communications strategies and methods.
- Ability to articulate ideas clearly (both written and orally), listen accurately, and establish personal rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds.
- Maintains dignity and self-control in stressful situations.
- Objective about personal strengths and limitations.
- Proven logical, systematic, integrative, conceptualizing thought process.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Maintains physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: walking, bending, stretching, lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment.
- Ability to work flexible/overtime hours, including evenings and some weekends, as needed.
- Requires valid NC driver’s license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.
