WHO YOU ARE
You are a self-motivated and experienced philanthropy expert with a deep understanding of grantmaking practices and processes. You are equally adept at conducting in-depth stakeholder analysis and problem definition as you are with developing key insights and recommendations for improvements in practices. You have strong project management and analytical skills, experience in leading project teams and demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects at a time. You are passionate about leveraging the advantages of digitization to improve grantmaking operations to help funders be more grantee centric. You contribute a complex problem solving lens that incorporates multiple stakeholder needs and competing demands across multiple teams or a department. You think strategically and proactively manage risk and take advantage of new opportunities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Philanthropy Solutions Consultant serves as the primary liaison between the client and Grantbook. Philanthropy Solutions Consultants are responsible for managing projects to completion while also conducting analysis and producing materials that constitute project deliverables. The role reports to Grantbook’s Director of Advisory Services.
YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Navigate complex, non-standard discoveries (eg. integrated with other business functions and/or systems) and probing to proactively uncover complexities that could lead to potential risks
- Communicate complex insights using simple frameworks and analogies to translate complex ideas into simple paths forward that helps client navigate decisions and recommendations
- Leading a project team, ensure that key deadlines and deliverables are met throughout a project’s life cycle while modeling Grantbook values and actively demonstrate cultural stewardship within your team.
- Garner client's trust (through deep knowledge, humility and active listening to the client's context) in order to build consensus and commitment from client team and maintain client relationships through project delivery
- Able to easily lead large-scale, complex workshops with multiple, competing stakeholder needs and leave with an aligned path forward for the client
- Manage the scope of work and ensure projects stays within budget
- Prepare and share weekly project updates, including summaries of milestones completed and upcoming, observed risks, current issues, and budget alignment
- Draft, submit, and present recommendations for proposed technology, process, strategic or other solutions and related materials, including kick-off decks, assessment & recommendation decks, RFP drafts, and project reports that can be used as an example of excellence or reworked into a template
- Capture and share lessons learned from projects
- Identify additional opportunities for Grantbook
- Occasional travel to client sites across North America as required
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide feedback and help enhance Grantbook’s overall operations
- Contribute to building Grantbook’s institutional knowledge through delivering informal team training, contributing to an internal wiki, and other methods of information sharing
- Support Grantbook’s marketing & sales efforts
- Have fun, work as a team, and "get it done"
- May present on topics externally (eg. conferences; virtual learning sessions)
- Other duties as reasonably assigned
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years of experience in either Philanthropy or Consulting, either as part of a foundation; in an advisory or business consulting capacity to such organizations
- 5+ years of experience leading projects or project teams
- Experience using cloud-based tools in a remote work environment
- Experience in or knowledge of grants management operations is an asset

HOW YOU’LL BENEFIT
SALARY & BENEFITS
Grantbook has a transparent salary structure with 6 levels, from A through F. We are looking for a skilled and experienced candidate at level C, within a salary range of $83,200 to $98,800.00 CAD. Throughout your interview process, we’ll learn more about your skills and experience and determine your starting salary based on what you bring to the team.
We take pay equity at Grantbook very seriously and strive to ensure everyone on our team is accurately and fairly compensated for their work. This means someone who is less comfortable negotiating a higher salary won’t be financially penalized compared to someone who readily argues for higher pay. Our salary bands are tied to similar roles in the market. We scan similar organizations—size, sector, culture— with the goal to provide competitive compensation. Each level reflects a stage of progress at Grantbook defined by expected experience and skills for that level.
In addition to base pay, all Grantbook team members will enjoy a bonus—an equal share of a dedicated portion of profits set aside to reward the whole team for exceptional performance on our impact goals.

WHERE WE WORK
We are a mostly remote-first team, with a fantastic office for collaborating (and having pizza lunches) centrally located by Sherbourne subway station in Toronto. We have team members in Vancouver, but the majority of our staff is located in and around Toronto. We will consider exceptional candidates from other locations in Canada as well.
