Position
This part-time position plays a key role as the face of the Shalom Hartman Institute,building relationships with new individual donors and institutional fundersacross Floridatowardachieving SHI NA’s strategic programmatic and philanthropic goals. This professional will cultivate a deep understanding of the interests of SHI NA’s target audiences as well as a thorough grasp of the programmatic resources and scholarship the Instituteoffers. This individual will build out an active network of new donors and prospects in key communities like Boca Raton, Miami, West Palm Beach, and beyond.
This creative self-starterwill initiatenew donor prospecting, plan ongoing donor/prospect events and meetings, manage strategic stakeholder engagement, andpromote and recruit for the Hartman Giving Society across the region. The ideal candidate will bring at least 8+years ofdirect fundraising and major donor programmatic engagement experience with demonstrated ability in relationship management, gift solicitation, project management, and special event planning and execution. This role requires someone who will bring a professional, resourceful, and entrepreneurial style, and who can leverage networks, partnerships and Institute resources to establish a successful fundraising profile for the Shalom Hartman Institute amongst key communities and networks across the target markets.
The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraising and campaign professional, comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced setting, who is a confident relationship-builder and strategic gift solicitor, who will be passionate about securing philanthropic resources to advance the Institute’s mission. The roles requires someone who canprioritize among many different responsibilities, is a highly effective verbal and written communicator, with a strong capacity for time-management.
Note: The position can be filled as either a staff member or a consultant modelbetween 60% - 75% time to be based in the Miami/Boca/Palm Beach corridor.
Primary Fundraising Responsibilities
Identify, engage, solicit, steward and cultivate a robust portfolio of new major individual, foundation, and institutional funders in the annual gift range of $10K-$1M to support the priority work of the Institute.
Curate and launch local engagement and fundraising events – serve as lead project manager for multiple events to engage donors and prospects including planning and execution of short-term seminars and VIP learning opportunities; develop guest lists, oversee recruitment, coordinate with hosts, facilitation and curation of the engagement experiences.
Deploy SHI executive leadership, program staff and faculty from North America and Israel through curated learning opportunities, private engagements, and speaking tours designed to engage new potential funders.
Support the various fundraising efforts of specialized campaigns including annual campaign, Board campaign, capital campaign, and planned giving.
Identify and recruit potential Board member candidates from Florida in line with leadership, service, and giving expectations of the Hartman Board of Directors.
Recruit new and steward existing participants toward premier Hartman engagement programs including annual Community Leadership Program (CLP) and Hartman Giving Society as well as local and lay leadership educational initiatives.
Liaise with local Rabbis, Synagogues, Federations, Foundations, leadership networks and program alumni, to elevate awareness and engagement of Florida leaders in Hartman activity.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience and demonstrated success working with donors, lay leaders, supervisees, and lay Board leaders to advance fundraising programming and events;
Superior relational skills with colleagues and lay leadership;
Highly professional, customer-service oriented demeanor;

Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Able to manage multiple complex tasks;
Familiarity with Jewish philanthropic landscape in North America
and the local Jewish fundraising markets in Florida;
Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-energy environment;
Track record of demonstrating sound judgment by making appropriate decisions and knowing when to communicate and when to take initiative;
Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively;
Flexible work style with the ability to work under tight deadlines and with shifting priorities;
Ability to staff occasional evening and weekend programs;
Modest travel expected – domestic and occasional to Israel;
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – proven ability using Excel and PowerPoint;
Hebrew language familiarity a plus;
Good sense of humor;
BA / BS degree or equivalent.
Salary range and benefits: $100,000 - $130,000, commensurate with experience, full-time equivalency, and status as employee vs contractor. Very competitive benefits package.
