Job Title: Regional Director of Philanthropy

Job Summary:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- The position will increase financial support for the University and raise in excess of $1 million per year.
- Manage a portfolio of 150-200 donors and prospects, focusing on soliciting and closing major gifts at the $50,000+ level, special gifts, and leadership-level annual gifts. Identify and qualify prospects, engage and cultivate current and prospective donors, and steward donors.
- Travel within the assigned region and nationally to meet with and cultivate potential donors.
- Update the database with information related to donor strategies, contacts, and results.
- Increase portfolio giving at a rate of 10% per year.
- Excellent public relations, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Fluency with database systems including but not limited to Blackbaud, Excel, Word, and other standard programs.
- Prepare written proposals and support documentation for gift acceptance in accordance with policies. This includes the preparation of LOIs (letter of intent) and MOUs (memorandum of understanding).
- Independently motivated to build a robust pipeline of donors to support the University's priorities.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree Required. Five years of major gift fundraising experience in Higher Education, a large non-profit, or a complex healthcare system. Successful track record closing annual leadership level ($5k - $25k) gifts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:
- A master's degree and ten or more years of fundraising experience in Higher Education, a large non-profit, or complex healthcare system. Contact management software experience (Raiser's Edge). Proficiency in working with Google products (Google Mail, Google Calendar, etc.). Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent out-of-state travel with some weekend and evening responsibilities.
- Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
Other Requirements:
- The incumbent is required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license
