Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Summary Description:
Yellowstone Forever (YF) is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy. YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF’s operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers in-depth educational programing for people of all ages; and a robust development program focused on creating and growing strong relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations that lead to financial investments in priority park projects.
The Development Assistant plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever’s development efforts. This position will maintain and support the overall department in areas of donor stewardship, engagement, and experiences, as well as assist with diverse fundraising efforts throughout the year. The ability to collaborate effectively with others, multi-task, and pay close attention to detail is essential. A successful candidate for this position will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to find joy and humor in the fundraising process, which is highly valued in our fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate relevant fundraising, event, and stewardship related information across the organization.
- Monitor the organization’s general and dedicated philanthropy phone lines and email inboxes, ensuring clear and timely correspondence to all inquiries and requests.
- Provide administrative support to all department fundraising programs including data management and gift processing as assigned.
- In coordination with the Manager, Donor Relations & Experience, create, review, and send weekly donor notification letters.
- Maintain positive relationships with local and regional vendors and act as the main point of contact when assigned.
- Assist with the inventory management, procurement and distribution of materials and mailings for the Philanthropy department.
- Assist with Philanthropy events and in-park donor experience planning, implementation, and follow-up.
- Updating CRM database with current donor information (vitals) when needed
- Philanthropy team on-site meeting logistics and coordination
- Active maintenance of lapsed, expired, return to sender, suspended and declined giving donor relationships.
- Provide prospect research support when needed, in coordination with Philanthropy Coordinator
- Purchasing and logistics coordination for philanthropy related tasks
- Monitors and tracks social media for Yellowstone philanthropy related content and potential collaborations with an objective to increase donations or engagement.
- Represent Yellowstone Forever and its mission accurately and positively.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with YF employees, volunteers, and partners.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Director, Annual Giving and Donor Engagement, Chief Development Officer, or other designated leadership.
Basic Qualifications:
- A degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.
- Data entry and administrative skills.
- Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a sound approach to problem solving, attention to detail and timely task completion.
- Ability to represent YF in a courteous and professional manner.
- A satisfactory criminal background check is a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a non-profit environment.
- Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park.
- Computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Salesforce.
