Summary: Responsible for preparing and presenting both parenting education and supportive service information to fathers of Bexar County and/or other areas in Texas on a virtual platform. The Family Educator will schedule, perform, and document client classes and case management as required. Other duties include representation of the Supporting Dads program and Catholic Charities in the community.
Position Responsibilities:
- *Complete comprehensive training and become certified in program selected curriculum and become certified as a counselor to use invoicing system
- *Recruit target population of caregivers for each class location to ensure maximization of efforts to include occasional nights and weekends
- *Plan and conduct parenting education series for Dads on site, out on location, and/or virtual platform
- *Adhere to Agency and Funder qualifying standards
- *Administer pre and posttests and parent/child assessment education for each family as determined by program and funding source
- *Complete data entry and invoicing in selected databases within 5 business days’ post completion of service
- *Maintain required documentation and records for each client/group and maintain records and report on weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly service counts as applicable
- Check email and work phone daily.
- Identify clients with specific needs/concerns and provide appropriate referrals for social services.
- Attend meetings and other events necessary to develop and promote program services.
- Seek out new sites for groups and maintain connections and rapport with established sites and community partners and schedule class dates and times.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Education
o Bachelor’s degree preferably in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, related social service field, or business-related field.
o High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience
Experience
- In addition to a degree, a minimum of one-year experience working with at-risk families prenatal or with children ages 0 – 5 years preferred.
- Experience may be substituted for degree in which case person must have at least 3 years of experience working with at-risk families prenatal or with children ages 0 – 5 years.
License and Credentials
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Certified in evidence based and/or promising practice curriculum preferred.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Bilingual, English – Spanish preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience in delivering educational information to groups or one-on-one including topics of child development, positive parenting techniques, and/or life skills.
- Extensive working knowledge of child development, and protective factors.
- Experience and proficiency with computer software, to include internet, Outlook, Word, Publisher, and Excel.
- A solid grasp of public speaking and classroom management.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
- Must have good written and verbal skills.
- Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Travel Requirements:
Travel requirements for the position includes 97% local and 3% overnight.
