Harmon, Curran, Spielberg & Eisenberg, LLP, a law firm in Washington, DC serving the nonprofit public interest community, is seeking a full-time Paralegal/Nonprofit Specialist. A successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, a GPA not less than 3.5, excellent writing, research and organizational skills, experience with Microsoft Office, the ability to work both independently and as part of a group, strong attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly and balance multiple projects at once. Recent college graduates (or those planning to graduate in Spring 2024) with an interest in serving the progressive nonprofit community are strongly encouraged to apply. A paralegal certificate is not required.
Our firm specializes in nonprofit tax, employment, environmental, and election law. Virtually all of the firm’s clients are nonprofit organizations or individuals. The Paralegal will work under the direct supervision of the attorneys and will likely assist in each of the legal areas that comprise the firm’s work.
Responsibilities include:
- Drafting and filing legal documents with the appropriate government agencies;
- Helping with legal research;
- Collecting and tracking documents for client projects;
- Drafting correspondence to clients and government agencies;
- Writing and copy editing articles for publication on the firm’s website; and
- Assisting with administrative tasks as needed.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with an expected annual salary of $45,000 - $55,000 (commensurate with experience). This position comes with generous benefits including 3 weeks of vacation plus sick days, generous medical benefits, 401k with match, and annual profit sharing. Our staff is currently working primarily remotely but the Paralegal will be required to be in the DC office 1 day per week or more for various in-office tasks. Harmon Curran is located in downtown Washington, DC and is easily accessible by public transportation. The ideal candidate will start or be able to come to the office for paid training in April 2024.
