The Role
In your Volunteer Experience Coordinator functional capacity, you are expected to work primarily in the Operations Support stream which sits within the Operations Team. The focus of this role is to oversee the volunteer lifecycle, ensuring a positive volunteer experience from onboarding to exiting. You will support in designing lifecycle management programs and activities which are both efficient and effective in providing a world class volunteering experience. In one sentence-we are looking for you to create a ‘wow’ factor in every part of our volunteering program. You will ensure proactive initiatives are in place for volunteer attraction, retention and development, whilst engaging more broadly across the operations department and interfacing with other Orange Sky Australia (OS) departments.
In addition, you will contribute to representing OS more broadly in the community and delivering service continuity to regions across Australia in a Service Support capacity.
In particular you will be responsible for:
- Contributing to the safety and compliance of our community
- Working collaboratively with all OS departments, collecting/interpreting data to deliver services and contribute to general operational reports
- Working in an on call weekend Service Support capacity to address service delivery needs across Australia
- End to end design of the volunteer lifecycle, developing volunteer retention and recognitions programs that drive a strong shift culture
- Identifying and dreaming up solutions to pain points to ensure a positive volunteering experience
- Thinking outside the box to create ‘wow’ moments at key points in the volunteering journey.
- Develop volunteer retention & recognition programs in conjunction with other operations team members and volunteer leaders.
- Develop resources to support the Operations team manage volunteer human resource matters (e.g. exiting, performance management) in conjunction with OS subject matter experts and other departments (i.e. People and Engagement)
- Ensure volunteer documents and resources equip volunteers to effectively fulfill their roles
- Work collaboratively to deliver the volunteer training & development program
- Collaborating with the Marketing, Fundraising and Partnerships teams to develop and deliver volunteer facing campaigns and communications
- Develop, plan and lead the delivery of new and existing projects aligned with the volunteer strategy

The applicant ideally has experience in a similar role within a fast-paced organisation, ideally within the not-for-profit sector and working with a large volunteer base.
Additionally, the ideal applicant has:
- 3+ years experience in a customer experience/customer service or volunteer engagement role
- An understanding and passion for customer experience
- A genuine passion for the work of Orange Sky and issues of homelessness and isolation
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage complex and competing demands and meet deadlines
- Experience with project management across platforms such as Asana is desired but not essential.
- Experience building surveys, analysing data and developing actionable insights will be highly regarded.
- Ability to work both independently, and within a team
- A proactive attitude
