Basic Function:
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of programs and services at Camp Christopher.
- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Ensure that practices, procedures, and safety regulations, specific to Camp Christopher and applicable from the American Camp Association, are prioritized and followed
Responsibilities
- Environmental Education/ Outside Group Users
- Oversee Program Manager/ Coordinators.
- Coordinate and implement requested group schedule, create and share staff assignments
- Communicate with group leadership to coordinate their visit and to ascertain satisfaction with services received.
- Ensure that staff are adhering to the outlined activity procedures and course curriculum
- Ensure that Environmental Education courses reflect current Ohio Department of Education (ODE) standards.
- Oversee and direct marketing efforts to increase number of clients served.
Disability Programming
- Review client paperwork to determine appropriateness for program. Communicate client status with appropriate parties.
- Ensure Respite and Sum Fun programs have adequate supervision, staffing, supplies, appropriate schedules, etc.
- Ensure program operations are conducted in a manner that complies with rules/regulations of funders, including State of Ohio.
- Oversee and direct marketing efforts to increase number of clients served.
Summer Programming
- Provide direction and oversight to staff as directed.
- Assist in the interviewing and training staff.
- Assign staff to lead courses and activities.
- Provide supervision and assistance to staff in performance of duties.
- Contribute to the performance evaluation process as directed.
- Participate in meetings with instructors and program staff. Prepare and retain a weekly agenda and meeting minutes.
- Supervise completion of all necessary documentation and paperwork including but not limited to staffing assignments and schedules, incident reports, etc.
- Provide oversight for the planning/implementation of Masses and prayer services by using structured format as directed.
- Communicate with parents, caregivers, and others as directed for smooth operation of programs.
- Perform support tasks as needed including but not limited to assisting in the kitchen, cleaning bathrooms, cabins, grounds,
- Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Listening and speaking skills needed for daily communication with campers, staff, parents, and public.
- Must be able to provide instruction in large groups with high levels of noise
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat and reach above head. Occasional bending, climbing, reaching, navigating stairs and throughout camp. Frequent walking (far distances) and standing in both indoor and outdoor settings during all seasons.
- Must be able to frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to physically assist clients and teach staff how to assist clients with activities of daily living
- Must have skills to complete administrative tasks, including frequent use of cell phone
Requirements:
- Combination of experience and education normally represented by a Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, psychology, management or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
- Must be at least 25 years of age at the time of hire.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License. Must have reliable means of transportation for local travel (under 200 miles).
- Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have strong organizational skills, be detailed oriented with the ability to be flexible and work as part of a team.
- Must be able to exercise excellent judgment and be clear thinking in a crisis.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain certification.
- Willingness to work a diverse schedule that will include evenings and weekends. Willingness to reside on the premises.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office including email and internet.
