JOB SUMMARY: The Therapeutic Social Worker provides safe agency access to children and parents who may have a past history of separation, neglect, and/or abuse, to work towards increasing positive parenting skills and healing from issues that led to the need for supervised access. The Therapeutic Social Worker helps the children and parents to engage in physically and emotionally safe ways. Therapeutic Social Worker holds parents accountable to program rules while also maintaining rapport.

EDUCATION: Mental health professional with a Master's degree in clinical or counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related subject area (MSW, LMSW, MHC, LMHC, MFT, LMFT). Must be license-eligible/willing to work on getting your license or already licensed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule including two evenings and one partial weekend day to facilitate visits
- Proficient or willing to learn Microsoft Word., Microsoft Teams, and able to learn agency database
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience working with children and families
- Consistent use of strengths based, trauma-informed care approach
- Effective assessment and engagement skills with mandated clients

- Conduct a thorough assessment of the client and family: gather information on behaviors of concern and strengths in the family and their ecology to inform conceptualization of the problem behaviors and interactions within the family's ecological context
- Work comfortably with a diverse community of clients
- Continuously work to engage the parent, primary caregiver, family members, supports, and collateral contacts including (counselors, ECDSS, etc...)
- Is respectful, empowering, strength-focused, responsive, empathic, and able work with parents to challenge behaviors and increase their understanding of their children's needs
- Demonstrates ability to intervene when needed during access, to ensure children's safety
- Willing and able to work with mandated clients and deescalate and/or manage conflict if it arises
