Position Overview
The Development Manager develops and implements the processes and structures needed as well as effectively manage a staff, work closely with the Executive Director to engage in externally facing activities, and ensure the successful achievement of the following: Fundraising structure, strategy, donor management, corporate and foundation management, major gift donor management, fundraising events, etc.
Job Description
Support the Development Director and Executive Director in developing and managing the site fundraising portfolio to raise a minimum of $1.1 million (meeting quarterly revenue and collections goals) from private revenue sources:
- Researching, writing, and creating proposals, letters, presentations, marketing collateral, and reports for existing and potential individual funders; make dynamic presentations to same audiences.
- Broadening donor base by researching, identifying, and cultivating new donors; ensuring diversity and sustainability.
- Stewarding and fulfilling donor intent by learning and understanding their philanthropic mission and working with them to determine the best sponsorship opportunities possible; providing superior recognition and benefits based on gift agreement.
- Supporting the execution of site-wide events (Opening Day, 18-Minute Networking, Graduation, etc.) that cultivate and steward donors at all levels.
Begin cultivating and securing investment from our donor base by developing and implementing a new Small Giving Circle initiative with the Development Director and Executive Director:
- Working with our champions to identify and cultivate new prospects and funds in the Central Florida area.
- Creating branding and promotional material (i.e. donor experience and benefits).
- Stewarding current donors.
- Producing 1-2 cultivation events for prospects annually, in collaboration with site leadership and board members.
Partner with the Development Director and Executive Director to raise at least $165,000 of private sector revenue to recruit and lead special events:
- Supporting fundraising and engagement efforts of individuals to secure sponsorships and donations.
- Serving and leading on the site-wide event logistics and production team.
- Partnering with the Development Director and Executive Director to recruit and lead host committees to achieve event goals.
- Training and leading other staff to support fundraising event efforts.
Support development operations process from donor identification through collection of funds:
- Maintaining strategic moves management plan to direct and monitor the progress of donor relationships.
- Coordinating with site on gift confirmation, invoicing, collection, acknowledgment, and thank you processes of accounts.
- Coordinating with Development Director for accurate maintenance of donor information, revenue records and collection documentation in Salesforce.
- Supporting pipeline meetings with Development Director and Executive Director.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in corporate fundraising, partnership development, communications, nonprofit, and/or client account management.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to work the flexible hours demanded of a deadline-driven position.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently to achieve goals.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective strategies and drive an efficient process to implement strategy.
- Proficiency in crafting strong, persuasive promotional and sales materials.
- Efficient time management skills: ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
- Demonstrate a willingness to work as and be a strong and collaborative team member.
- Passion for education and youth development.
- Thrives in diverse, youthful, high energy, entrepreneurial, fast-changing environment.
- BA/BS required.
