KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote excellence in delivery of care with a strong customer focus.
- Work collaboratively with other team members; deal tactfully and courteously with residents, residents’ families, visitors and all health team members.
- Provide personal care of residents with a high standard of skill, sense of responsibility, dignity, caring and respect for privacy.
- Understand the Resident Bill of rights, respect and promote it.
- Assist in the care process by observing and reporting changes in the resident’s physical and emotional condition. Understand the guidelines of care as outlined in the resident care plans to provide care.
- Perform personal care and selected nursing measures to promote comfort and safety for the resident in accordance with our standards of resident care.
- Assist with record keeping indicating resident’s condition, care and specific treatment. Document on flow sheets, progress notes and care plans as per requirements.
- Maintain a safe, neat, clean environment for residents and staff. Recognize and report any safety hazards and follow all safety policies and procedures
REQUIREMENTS:

Must have successfully completed a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program and obtained certification that meets the program requirements set by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities for an Ontario postsecondary institution or district school board to issue a personal support worker certificate.

Two to three years of experience providing personal care to seniors and others is preferred.

Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are required.

Must possess good listening and time management skills.

Must demonstrate an ability to respond effectively to the needs of others in a timely and courteous manner.

Must have a proven ability to work well under pressure and demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Must be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively.

Must be available to work within a 24 hour, seven day/week work schedule.

Must be able to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners are essential.
Must be able to complete work with minimal direction and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
