The Cook supports Cumberland Heights’ and ARCH Academy’s mission of providing the highest quality care possible in a cost-effective manner for persons and families who are at risk for or who are suffering from the disease of chemical dependency.Treatment encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of recovery by offering a safe, loving and healing environment, combining professional excellence and the principles of the Twelve Steps.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Cook is responsible to assist the Chef with the preparation of food and with the maintenance of the kitchen and dining room, keeping them in a clean, orderly and safe condition at all times in compliance with local and state health department requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include some or all of the following according to shift/assignment:
1.Collaborates with our Chef in preparing and cooking meals independently on assigned shifts.
2.Be able to perform kitchen duties in absence of our chef, to include meal planning, ordering products and overall management of the dietary services department.
3.Prepares the salad bar daily ensuring freshness and appealing appearance.
4.Ensures dishes, silver and serving pieces are always clean and in the proper places at mealtimes.
5.Maintains and ensure cleanliness of beverage bar and machines with juice, coffee, and tea at all times.
6.Sets up appropriate condiments for lunch and dinner mails for hot and cold line.
7.Cleans floors, vacuums carpet in dining room and maintains dining room orderliness.
8.Maintains drink stations.
9.Acts as food runner at mealtimes for hot and cold food.
10.Fills and cleans condiment station and table condiments.
11.Prepares all dish room duties.
12.Cleans and organizes all kitchen work stations and equipment.
13.Cleans and sanitizes thoroughly all pots, pans and kitchen equipment and utensils and ensures their proper storage.
14.Removes trash bags, cleans trash cans and breaks down cardboard boxes for disposal.
15.Keeps kitchen and serving area floors clean and dry.
16.Ensures clean and orderly condition of stoves, ovens, and all kitchen equipment.
17.Keeps inside windows, walls and doors in kitchen and break room clean and orderly always.
18.Washes kitchen mats nightly.
19.Cleans back dock and dumpster pad and keeps dumpster doors always closed.
20.Mops kitchen, serving areas, cooler, stockroom and bathroom each night.
21.Cleans air filters in hood weekly.
22.Maintains milk dispenser including cleaning and stocking.
23.Complies with all local and state health requirements on sanitation, safe handling, and storage of food.
24.Ensures that a welcoming, safe and healing environment is maintained for each patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
25.Recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of services.
26.Makes change and accepts meal payments when needed.
27.Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information.
28.Reacts productively to change.
29.Participate in critical staffing rotation when called, typically due to weather conditions.
30.Performs other duties as assigned.
