Signature Theatre, one of New York's leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a DECK CARPENTER at The Pershing Square Signature Center on West 42nd Street for our upcoming production of THREE HOUSES by Dave Malloy.
About Signature
Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. In 2012, Signature opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

The Deck Carpenter is a part-time hourly position. Only candidates with a valid FDNY E-27 Certificate of Fitness will be considered.
Production Dates:
· Tech starts: 04/19/2024
· 1st Preview: 04/30/2024
· Opening Night: 05/21/2024
· Closing Performance: 06/09/2024
Compensation
The position is non-exempt. The position pays $31.00/hour. Any hours worked beyond 40 hours in a work week is compensated at the overtime rate of $46.50/hour, is one and a half times the hourly rate of thirty-one $31.00.
Responsibilities
· Backstage run crew for all technical rehearsals and performances of THREE HOUSES.
· Performing pre-show and post-show duties as identified by the Production and Stage Management teams, including sweeping, mopping, preparing stage and backstage areas for technical rehearsals and performances.
· Maintaining scenic and prop elements throughout the run.
· Identifying work calls with the Production Manager and/or Technical Director.
Candidates should have excellent carpentry, communication and organizational skills and be able to work independently. A well-rounded production background is preferred. For more information on Signature and THREE HOUSES, visit www.signaturetheatre.org.
Desired Experience
· Holder of a valid FDNY E-27 Certificate of Fitness is required.
· Comfortable working at height and climbing ladders.
· Knowledge of power tools and hand tools.
· Experience using and operating theatrical scenery.
· Knowledge and experience with both manual and automated fly systems.
· Ability to think critically in different situations.
· Possess a positive attitude, self-motivated, and is pro-active in looking for and solving potential issues.
