Summary: The Child Mind Institute (CMI) is seeking a Senior Frontend (React / React Native) Engineer for MindLogger, a platform that empowers clinicians, researchers, and educators to digitally deliver mental health assessments and interventions for children, teens, and young adults. This 20-month position will help CMI, through its partnership with California’s Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), build the next generation of the MindLogger platform. As part of CMI’s research team, our mission is to accelerate the pace of scientific innovation and discovery in mental health and learning, and help foster collaborations that can test, improve upon, and adopt innovative solutions for the benefit of every child. The Senior Frontend Engineer will play a pivotal role in the evolution of the MindLogger platform, utilizing their significant experience developing in React/React Native. You will maintain a deep technical knowledge of the MindLogger platform, and own all aspects of the front-end (architecture, technical orchestration). As an individual contributor, you will leverage your deep understanding of front-end architecture to drive delivery of new features across multiple front-end surfaces, including React-based web apps and native-based mobile apps. Your ability to architect and execute automated testing will ensure these features are executed to a high level of quality, and ensure delivery of a seamless, user-centric experience across our platform. Working closely with the Engineering Director for Mindlogger, you will contribute to aligning the strategy and vision for our engineering projects (10%), delve into the code to spearhead the implementation and enhancement of frontend-specific features (50%), and dedicate your expertise to the architecture and breakdown of frontend-specific features (40%). Reporting to the Engineering Director for MindLogger this is a full-time, exempt position located in our NYC headquarters or California office. A hybrid schedule is possible. Responsibilities: - Own MindLogger front-end technical orchestration, including mobile and web apps, ensuring they are responsive, intuitive, and user-friendly.
- Drive the architecture, planning, and development of front-end features and UX, ensuring they are aligned with user needs and business goals and delivered at quality and on time.
- Be a technical leader to our existing development team of internal and external engineers.
- Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to break down tasks for external development, and ensure estimations and deliveries are accurate and timely.
- Architect and execute front-end automated testing to ensure regression protection and optimal performance, ensuring comprehensive coverage and quality assurance.
- Ensure successful integrations with backend systems, contributing to a cohesive and seamless user experience.
- Mentor and uplift non-technical staff; collaborate with cross-functional teams (including external resources) for tailored feature implementation.
- Contribute to prototyping and solutions-engineering tasks as needed.
