Position Overview
The Director of the Just Institute advances New Detroit's mission by driving the business development and growth of this critical new social venture. The Director of the Just Institute will build a data driven, market-based portfolio of fee-based offerings advancing racial equity and DEIJ.
Requirements
Business Development
•First, solicit client, community, and various industries’ input to develop Just Institute offerings.
•Develop and project financial goals (net and gross) over a three-year period.
•Proactively develop, nurture and steward relationships.
•Aggressively market JI services and programs.
Strategy
•Develop and implement growth strategy for the Just Institute, including enhancing existing offerings based on research and analysis of industry trends, customer satisfaction, and focused on financial gain while serving New Detroit’s mission to change hearts and minds and policies and practices.
•Develop academic partnerships to advance thought leadership and courses for students and executives around racial equity and DEI.
Design & Execution
•Manage a strong brand and marketing campaign for the Just Institute•Organize, market, and facilitate trainings, and services.•Coordinate curriculum including topics, speakers, and course activities and materials.•Develop and manage client, contractor, vendor, and partner relationships.•Evaluate program impact.
Staff & Board Relations
•The Just Institute is a program of New Detroit. The Director will be employed by New Detroit and work closely with the New Detroit board and staff, building and promoting the Just Institute as a strong of brand of New Detroit.
•Reports to New Detroit COO, working closely with CEO, Director of Transformational Change, Director of Community Outreach, and manages Program Associate and consultants.
Qualifications and Skills
•5+ years social impact business development experience in nonprofit, government, or in for profit business.
•Commitment to New Detroit’s mission to improve racial equity and end racism.
•Interpersonal skills, written and oral communication and presentation skills.
•Project management and time management skills
•Collaborative work style
•Commitment to working with diverse and inclusive communities.
•Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating anti-racism curriculum, trainings,services, and educational programs preferred.
•Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Benefits
Salary: $80,000 + performance bonus
