The Accelerate Program Employment Specialist will work with both employers and participants to connect youth ages 18-24 with justice involvement to opportunities in the workforce. The Accelerate Employment Specialist will develop work based learning and training opportunities for participants and employers and ensure employer's needs are met.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Establish relationships and maintain close contact with area employers for job development and placement opportunities.
- Create and monitor contracts for work based learning with area employers.
- Assist participants in finding and maintaining employment in relevant industries.
- Counsel and provide on-going case management to program participants who are enrolled in work based learning programs.
- Become familiar with policies, procedures, and guidelines and ensure compliance with all guidelines.
- Make appropriate resource referrals, provide follow-up services and track outcomes.
- Serve customers living in Winnebago County.
- Maintain participant files in compliance with program requirements and guidelines.
- Show flexibility in working with youth with barriers
- Show flexibility and tolerance in dealing with persons from diverse social, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Basic Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, human services, or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of workforce development and/or youth development experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail.
- High customer service focus.
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable, insured automobile. Must be able to travel frequently to locations in Belvidere and Freeport.
Environment:
The work is conducted at Goodwill Mission Centers, with travel between Rockford, Belvidere and Freeport, as well as partner locations. Hours are primarily day time hours, but on occasion, can include evening and/or weekend hours.
