WAGE RANGE: $22.50-$26.30/hour
JOB SUMMARY: Catholic Charities is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual who is compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally aware to serve as a Housing Navigator in our Family Housing Crisis Response Program.
The Housing Navigators provide navigation services to clients seeking emergency shelter. They will conduct initial screenings, crisis stabilization services, and eligibility assessments. They will maintain productive relationships with internal and external parties for the purpose of providing quality client services, are responsible for staying current on housing subsidies and community resources, administering financial assistance, and tracking data and reporting.
They will keep abreast of changes in the field and research new methods of service delivery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide standardized, mobile assessments to families or single adults who have entered shelter or who are precariously housed.
- Obtain household verifications and background checks as required by funders.
- Accurately synthesizing information received through the assessment process.
- Conduct case conferencing to allow provider input on assignments, as needed.
- Work closely and collaboratively with County Financial Assistance worker(s) to maintain as on-site shelter diversion worker(s) to ensure families or singles are assigned the correct level and type of service.
- Provide leadership in communication between the coordinated assessment system and providers to ensure program efficiency and effectiveness. Stay well informed around provider eligibility criteria and referral processes.
- Ensure the program significantly and consistently contributes to the positive community culture that promotes learning, diversity, problem solving, resourcefulness, accountability and excellence in serving homeless families and/or single adults.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:
- Post-secondary education in related field preferred.
- one (1) year of relevant experience in crisis management and knowledge of homelessness, chemical dependency, mental illness and other issues affecting program participants.
- Familiar with housing programs, including RRH, PSH, THP, S+C, Tax Credit, and Section 8 and conducting intake and assessment processes.
- Working knowledge of community resources for low-income families, system navigation and assisting people with benefit and program eligibility.
- Ability to work with diverse and/or low-income populations, including those who may be experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and/or mental illness required.
