PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Support Services Manager (ASSM) supports the Support Services Manager (SSM) in the oversight and development the Support Services program at a designated housing site(s) to provide intensive social work and support services to the formerly homeless adults who reside there. The ASSM shares supervision of the case management services and Services staff at the site with the SSM, while also maintaining a client caseload and providing case management services to designated residents. .
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management Duties:
While providing supervisory functions, the Assistant Support Services Manager will maintain a resident caseload as deemed appropriate by the Support Services Manager. Adhere to all protocols governing provision of services to Housing residents.
Perform initial intake assessment of assigned residents on day of move-in and submit to the Support Services Manager within 3 business days of resident move-in. Assessment to include a review of health status, psychosocial history, financial status, history of drug and alcohol use, housing history, etc.
Provide residents on-site case management and supportive services on an ongoing basis within scope of practice. Refer to other in-house provider or outside community resources regarding issues related to substance (ab)use, vocational training, legal services, immigration services, physical and mental health services, housing resources, money management, etc. The case manager will have a good working knowledge of community resources and methods of accessibility.
Perform interviews with housing applicants to assess specific needs and assist in case-planning if applicants are offered housing.
Assist in developing, implementing, and overseeing new programs, groups, and activities with the Support Services Manager.
Work with residents regarding budgeting issues, including the development of voluntary money management plans.
Advocate on behalf of residents regarding property management concerns and benefit issues.
Develop and facilitate at least one weekly therapeutic / psycho-educational group at the site. As directed by the SSM, assist with the organization and carrying-out of other program events and community-building activities, such as Residents Council, BINGO, BBQs, holiday celebrations, community meetings and meals, movie viewings, outings, etc.
Assist residents or staff with conflict resolution, in coordination with any Residents Council and Support Service staff to ensure a comfortable living environment for all residents that promotes a sense of respect, cooperation, self-sufficiency and tenant empowerment; to include all appropriate staff members and residents.
Maintain up-to-date documentation in resident files regarding services provided in a complete, confidential, and professional manner. Complete all necessary paperwork including monthly statistics, etc., in a timely manner.
Supervisory Duties:
Assist with the supervision of case management site staff, including scheduling, processing payroll, completing appropriate personnel-related documentation, and assisting with performance evaluations.
Communicate all relevant program issues to Support Services Manager in a timely manner for feedback and/or approval, e.g. petty cash, crises, staff issues, etc.
Assist Support Services Manager in evaluating and achieving Support Services programmatic operations and contractual obligations.
Assist with monitoring and reporting of data collection procedures associated with ECS needs and funding for City contracts.
Provide support and assistance to Support Services staff, including but not limited to training of new staff, acting as liaison to outside agencies, case consultation, etc.
Serve as acting Support Services Manager when deemed appropriate and/or necessary by the designated Support Services Manager or the Director of Housing Services.
Attend all meetings as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
