Syndeo has several temp to hire opportunities for a Lead Office Advocate at Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter – Catholic Charities. The Lead Office Advocate will be responsible for providing support to clients who reside in the shelter home. This person will oversee operations of the shelter home and assist residents in their day-to day requirements.
Schedules needed:
- 1pm-9pm (Days off Monday/Tuesday)
- 12am-8am Monday - Friday
- 9pm-5am Wednesday - Sunday
Accountabilities:
- Receives prospective clients and determines eligibility for service.
- Admits clients through established procedures.
- Refers ineligible prospects to other agencies or programs as appropriate.
- Provides assistance and support for shelter clients and children.
- Supports and advises clients in achieving goals to new lifestyle.
- Collaborates with other staff members to follow recommended treatment plans.
- Supervises and assists clients in day-to-day requirements.
- Informs clients of shelter guidelines and enforces same.
- Manages operations of the shelter, including security tape and monitoring security system.
- Maintains shelter safety and responds to issues appropriately as they arise.
- Sets out meals for clients and logs meals in menu book.
- Receives incoming calls to shelter, responds to inquiries, and determines appropriate action.
- Receives and acknowledges donations to the shelter.
- Accurately enters program demographics and service data in the TIER and other data management systems as needed.
- Maintains cleanliness of shelter restrooms, receptions area, and offices.
- Completes shelter laundry and ensures that there are clean linens at all times, monitors and maintains the stock of cleaning supplies and other general office supplies.
- Ensures rooms are cleaned and prepared for new incoming clients.
- Refers domestic violence victims to Harbor House Outreach Advocate when appropriate.
- Records Incident Reports and Work Orders in Catholic Charities computer system, as required.
- Attends domestic violence trainings as required by KCSDV and Catholic Charities Wichita.
- Performs other related assigned duties.
Requirements:
- High school diploma with 1-2 years of education, training or experiences with social services
- Driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Professional experience or training in counseling, domestic violence, economically disadvantaged, or other social issues preferred but not required.
- Proven work history that demonstrates ability to establish rapport with people from various socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (drug, background and MVR).
