SUMMARY
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention in accordance with ADAPT policies, the regulations and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and standards of the profession. Monitors treatment plans and progress. Conveys intervention techniques to others.
COMPENSATION $35-$40/hour plus industry leading benefits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Behavior Intervention Specialist, will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Reviews psychological assessment on individuals as needed in areas of intelligence and adaptive behavior and is able to furnish this information to interested parties when requested.
- Develops a treatment plan and goals based on an assessment.
- Provides psychological services as prescribed by treatment plan in areas of behavior management, psychological counseling, crisis intervention, etc..
- Integrates therapeutic intervention techniques into programs or home of person served through consultation with parent/guardian and staff at team meetings, case conferences or through other informal contacts.
- Records progress on all active cases in therapy, monitors therapy status and makes appropriate recommendations as changes occur.
- Develops a behavior plan for clients on psychotropic medication with a goal of decreasing their medication and reports to Human Rights Committee regarding behavior management, informed consent and psychotropic medication management.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews for purposes of planning, implementation and monitoring of individual plans.
- Participates in pre-admission evaluations.
- Assists with other duties such as arrival and dismissal, feeding, bath rooming, and classroom management as needed.
- Maintains equipment and orders supplies with approval of supervisor.
- Attends team meetings as scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, consumers, families and outside contacts.
- Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
- Knowledge of standard psychometric assessment instruments i.e. Wechsler series, Stanford Binet Demonstrate sound judgement and the capacity to respond to unusual situations
- Good personal computer skills and knowledge of appropriate software
- Must be willing to work at various program sites
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Master�s Degree in Psychology
- At least five years creating behavior support plans with the developmentally disabled
- BCBA credential or courses that involve knowledge of applied behavior analysis
